Fantasy Hockey Scouts: Daily Dosage - Dec 4th, 2009

Dosage Express
Another Wayne's World sequel... Perry's streak is donesies... Pominville, population this guy... Selanne injured... we're done with 'The League'

Daily Diarrhea

HEADS UP: Our weekly Fantasy Five article is up over at HockeyDraft.ca

Simmonds Wayne's World is making a comeback in LA as Wayne Simmonds is on a little run for the Kings these days... he's 4+2=6 & a plus-6 during a five game point streak.  He's still working on the consistency though as in the five games before this streak he had no points and was a minus-7.

Corey Perry's 19 game point streak ended last night as he was blanked in a game against Dallas... hats off to CP on a great run, it was fun while it lasted.

Another rough outing for Steve Mason last night as he gave up four on 14 shots before getting pulled against the Leafs... hell, even Jason Blake got one by him.  Its been a brutal year for Mase as he has four games where he's given up less than two goals but also nine games where he's been beaten four or more times, out of 22 games in total... he's a risky play right now, best left on your bench.

Joey MacDonald posted his first win of the season last night as he stopped 33 to beat the CBJs on the road.  Its going to be JoeyMac and/or Toskala for a little while (see below) and if either of them can heat up then they could see a run of games as the Leafs will take whatever good fortune they can get.

Pominville This scout is a big fan of Jason Pominville as he's a solid consistent producer who never gets hurt... so you'll hear about him when he does well and with two points last night he's starting to heat up with 1+4=5 & 10 shots in his last three games.

A hat-trick last night for Matt Moulson and while he's still on pace for 40+ goals and 60+ points, he appears to be slowing down a bit as before last night he was 6+5=11 in his last 20 games and his ice-time and PP minutes have been trending south.

After going through a stretch with only one point in nine games, Brenden Morrow is heating up with points in his last six and goals in five straight.

We told you before to watch out for Alex Burrows in the 2nd half of the season... well it looks like Burr thinks the 2nd half has already started as check out this production in his last five games... 4+2=6, plus-6, 10 PIMs & 15 sog... fantasy gold.

The Leafs traded Jiri Tlusty to the Hurricanes for 2009 1st round pick Philippe Paradis.  Tlusty is still only 21 and has already established himself as a point-per-game player in the AHL, so he might get a chance to join the big club in Carolina soon.  Paradis is a big kid who's not scoring very much in the Q but has a lot of potential for truculence, so we're sure Brian Burke thinks he got a steal.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Semin Alex Semin returned after missing seven games with a wrist injury and it seems to be fully operational as he racked up 2+2=4 with five shots in almost 22 minutes of ice-time.

Teemu Selanne suffered a broken hand last night... so he'll be out a few weeks and if surgery is needed then it will probably be longer.

The Sabres Chris Butler left last night's game with an ankle injury... more when we find out the extent.

Jonathan Ericsson left last night's game with a knee injury but its not considered serious and he's only out day-to-day.

So Jonas Gustavsson is going to have another procedure on his heart to give the ole ticker a little kickstart again... he'll probably be out for a few weeks.  Apparently this is pretty routine but it's got me worried and I've only got Gustavsson on my fantasy team, can't imagine how Burke, or Gustavsson himself, is feeling about this.

Returning to action from the injured list last night was: Craig Rivet, Rene Bourque, Milan Hejduk, Robert Nilsson, Andrei Kostitsyn, Frans Nielsen and Carlo Colaiacovo.

Daily Distraction

What's distracting us today?  So yesterday we said that we're willing to give a new show on FX called 'The League' a shot and we even tried to promote it by posting a little clip... well apparently right after we posted it, the clip (and all other clips on youtube) was deleted and so we went to the FX website to watch the episode there and after agreeing to download their special video player, the video wouldn't play and crashed my cpu.  So fuck it, we're done, those fascists at FX can keep their crappy little show to themselves... we'd rather watch reruns of Press Your Luck anyway....
