Fantasy Hockey Scouts: Daily Dosage - Mar 11th, 2010

Dosage Express
Jose making his case... Niemi poised... Myers & Stempniak with big nights... Jussi, Kesler & Kane keep rolling... Schremp done... politician rips-off CBJs

Daily Diarrhea

Theodore Crazy run for Jose Theodore as with the OT win last night he's 13-0-2 in his last 15 games with a 2.42 gaa & .928 sv%... those are some pretty boffo numbers and if he can keep them going then it will be hard for Coach Bruce to ignore, especially given that Varlamov has looked a little rusty since returning from injury.

Antti Niemi with the start last night for Chicago and he was solid stopping 28 of 30 for the OT win over the Kings... we think he's poised to finally steal this job once and for all as we've rocketed this goalie battle to the top of our Crease Conflicts (which we gave a big refresh over the past few days).  It will be interested to see who gets the assignment for the big Caps game on Sunday as that could be a good test for whoever Coach Q is leaning towards as his playoff starter.

Manny Legace took the OT loss last night but you have to cut him some slack for giving up four goals on 39 shots to the mighty Caps... he's 5-0-1 with a 1.98 gaa & .931 sv% over his last six games.

Jussi Jokinen scored again last night and he has goals in four out of five since the break and has a pretty amazing 16+11=27 over his last 20 games.

Myers Huge night for Tyler Myers as he was 1+3=4 and watching the highlights, I don't think I've ever seen a four point night where a guy got so many lucky bounces, it was like they were playing with an Indian rubberball.  Myers needed a big night as he only had one point and was a minus-5 in his previous 11 games and the Calder talk was starting to shift to Duchene and Jimmy Howard.

The Caps have a glut of forwards and so they're forced to rotate guys in & out of the lineup... well Tomas Fleischmann was scratched the other night but he responded nicely with the OT winner and a season high five shots last night.  His value takes a bit of a hit with the Caps depth but he's still on his way to a nice breakout season with close to 60 points in about 70 games.

Lee "Fricken" Stempniak is burning up in the desert as he has 3+1=4 in three games (with limited minutes) with the Coyotes.  He should have had a hat-trick last night but for a crazy Andrew Raycroft hail mary save... you might want to grab him as he might be good for a few more of these.

Mikael Samuelsson continued his fine form playing with the Sedin's as he had another goal & helper last night and is 7+2=9 in his last five games.

Kesler Ryan Kesler kept his point streak alive at 11 games, he has 5+8=13 during the streak and even more impressive is that all 11 games were on the road.  He's up to 24th in the league in scoring, ahead of guys like Pavel Datsyuk, Jeff Carter and Rick Nash... you could've made a few bucks if you had bet on that before the season started.

Pat Kane extended his point streak to nine games last night and has 4+10=13 during the run... he's exceeded his previous career high of 72 points that he put up in rookie season and is on pace for 90+.

Injury Updates (see our Injury Updates page for a consolidated list of injuries):

Light night for injuries last night...  here's one, Robbie Schremp has a knee injury that will end his season early, tough break for Schremp as he's been putting up some points, playing at around a 47 point (82 game) pace during his first full NHL season.

Daily Distraction

What's distracting us today?  This story (via Puck Daddy) of the first openly gay man to run for the US Senate in Oregon and how he totally ripped off the CBJs logo for his campaign... see for yourself...

Flipping it around and removing the red dot were nice touches but yeah, where I'm from, we call that a rip-off.

The best part comes when Delphine is informed of the pilfer, he goes on to apologize and plays dumb, blah-blah-blah, and then he gives the money shot...

"If anything, I hope this raises awareness for the Columbus Blue Jackets"

... like they're some charity case that needs help from a stealin' politician (which they totally are).
