Q1) Flames Breakout of the Year?
Going to have to go with Mikael Backlund. With Stajan, Moss and Langkow on the shelf long-term, Backlund is going to get a lot of chances at the start of the year to play some minutes and put up some points.
Q2) Darkhorse Breakout on the Flames?
Probably T.J. Brodie, if he makes the team full-time. Capable offensive defender and puck mover. He'll probably get 2nd unit PP time if he sticks.
Q3) Breakdown Player on the Flames?
Matt Stajan had a career year last season and it's rare that 27 year-old guys build on those. That and he probably won't get first unit PP time on the Flames. Plus, he's going to miss some time due to a shoulder injury.
Q4) League-Wide Breakout of the Year?
If he finally gets some linemates and doesn't get a pure checking assignment, the Coyotes Martin Hanzal might take a big step forward.
Q5) Who are your First Five Picks in a Fantasy Draft?
Ovechkin, Crosby, Malkin, Sedin, Toews
Q6) Best Value for Money Fantasy Goalie?
Depending on the league, probably Tomas Vokoun. Because he plays for a lousy team, no one seems to realize
he's a top 5 goalie in the league and has been for years.
Q7) Taylor or Tyler?
Taylor Hall by a hair.
Q8) Your Stanley Cup Pick?
New Jersey Devils or Vancouver Canucks
BONUS) The Olli Jokinen signing made the Flames a bit of a laughing stock but are you secretly stoked to have the weirdest looking dude in the NHL back on the Flames again?
Only because all the mean-spirited nicknames I made up for him last year and once again relevant.
Many thanks to Kent for his BB. If you enjoyed it make sure you check out his work at Flames Nation and his other sites.

A lot of people are really high on Toews upside this year, obviously Kent included. I have a hard time seeing him being a top 5 pick but stranger things have happened.
I assume he’s talking about Henrik although you could probabaly take either one and it wouldn’t make much of a difference.

Ducat,
Not sure which of the Sedin’s he meant. Didn’t pick that up in my proofread. Hopefully he’ll let us know in the comments.
As for Toews… yeah I’d agree that’s a bit high for him. He’s been going a lot higher (2nd round) than I expected in a couple of my drafts. Many people have fresh memories for playoff performances.
Having said that Toews is a great player… he could easily be a point-a-game guy this year.
