Fantasy Fortnight - Nov 4th, 2010

Fantasy_fortnight_mediumEvery two weeks (or thereabouts) we'll take a look back and see who's been particularly hot and cold over that fortnight.

We figure two weeks is about enough time to see a few trends that might help you and your fantasy team out.

These aren't necessarily the hottest or coldest guys the last two weeks but the ones that are playing above or below their expectations.  It's likely we've been talking these a lot of these guys up in our Daily Dosages the last while but here's the proof behind our hype.

WHO'S HOT?

Player Pos GP Points Comment
Ryan Callahan W 7 4+7=11 pts Already more than a third of the way to his totals from last season
Chris Stewart W 5 4+5=9 pts One of the fantasy players of the year so far
Claude Giroux W 7 5+4=9 pts One of our breakout picks is paying off big time so far
Milan Hejduk W 5 3+6=9 pts Not washed up yet
Dustin Byfuglien D 6 4+4=8 pts Will shatter career highs by January... and he's play D on your roster
Scott Hartnell W 7 4+3=7 pts Shots, PIM's and points... he does it all
Rene Bourque W 7 5+3=8 pts An underrated fantasy star
Brandon Dubinsky C 7 4+3=7 pts He's going to set career highs this season... lock it in
Brian Elliott G 6 4 wins 4 W's and a .924... when will the Sens officially start calling him #1?
Jaroslav Halak G 4 4 wins Only 5 goals in 4 games with 2 shutouts
Niklas Backstrom G 5 3 wins We're still not 100% sure he's back to his old ways, but this is a start
Antero Niittymaki G 6 4 wins Making a very solid case for the #1 job in SJ
Sergei Bobrovsky G 5 4 wins When FA's like this work, you really regret picking a big gun

WHO'S COLD?

Player Pos GP Points Comment
Brian Gionta W 7 0+1=1 pts On pace for a whopping 19 points
James van Riemsdyk W 7 0+1=1 pts We weren't expecting a breakout but this is disappointing
Jamie McBain D 6 0+1=1 pts We picked him to  breakout so far... not good
Dion Phaneuf D 6 0+1=1 pts He was sucking and now he's injured
Nikita Filatov W 6 0+0=0 pts Maybe the move back to the 2nd line will get him going?
Devin Setoguchi W 6 0+0=0 pts After only 36 points last year he's picking up right where he left off
Niklas Kronwall D 5 0+0=0 pts 2 goals and ZERO assists this year?  That won't last long
Dmitry Kulikov D 6 0+0=0 pts Another breakout pick that isn't panning out so far
Josh Bailey C 4 0+0=0 pts 6 points in 5 games... then this
Tomas Kopecky W 6 1+0=1 pts Hot start (8 points in 7 games) seems like a distant memory
Antti Niemi G 1 0 wins Picked before Niitty in most leagues... not a good return so far
