Saturday's Daily Dosage - Scheifele, Pirri, Gardiner...

Mark Scheifele with another goal last night to give him 4+4=8 in five preseason games... sounds like he'll be sticking around for at least nine games.  Good for the kid as he has a lot of doubters and he's proving them wrong.

Brandon Pirri of the Hawks with two goals on six shots last night and he leads the team with 4+1=5 in three preseason games.  Regular readers will recall that I've been talking about this kid for a while after he finished last season with 4+13=17 in his last 13 AHL games... as a 19-year-old.

Ray Emery has a .813 sv% through three appearances during his try-out with the Hawks while Alexander Salak is .929 in three appearances... just sayin.

The next Leafs Hall of Famer, Jake Gardiner, had 1+1=2 last night in 25 minutes of ice-time.  He's probably done enough with 1+4=5 in five preseason games to make the team but despite all of Brian Burke's hot air, Komisarek isn't likely to go to the AHL so Gardiner could be sent down until an injury replacement is needed.

Oilers prospect Anton Lander with the fantasy line of the night with 1+1=2, plus-3, 6 PIMs & 5 shots.  His name has to be in the mix to make the team but it will be real interesting to see if he misses out like Omark did last year.

Gustav Nyquist with a beauty goal for the Wings last night but he's likely headed to the Grand Rapids shortly as the Wings will want to be patient.  Love the long-term upside though, we have him ranked at #24 in our Top 500 Fantasy Prospects Rankings.

Steve Mason stopped 35 of 37 and is now 4-0-0, 1.98 & .934 in the preseason... I may have to stop making fun of him if he continues his hot start into the regular season.

Grant Clitsome with nearly 26 minutes of ice-time last night for the CBJs and so he seems to be well ahead guys like Russell, Moore & Savard in terms of making the team and playing a major role.  Although Kris Russell had to do something to stand out so he dropped the gloves with Jeff Skinner in a featherweight division tilt.

Marc-Andre Gragnani played on the top PP unit last night but saw under 12 minutes of total ice-time... not a good sign if you're expecting big things from him this year (I'm not).

Luke Adam with 2A last night and he looks like he's really close to making the Sabres, which I thought was going to be challenging given the number of veterans on the roster.

Cody Eakin played less than 10 minutes for the Caps last night, that usually means bus fare to Hershey is in his future.

Notable cuts from the past 24 hours:  Andrei Loktionov (LA), Brendan Smith (DET), Paul Byron (CGY), Jonathan Cheechoo (STL) & Jordan Schroeder (VAN).  Smith was also suspended for five games for that head hit the other night.
