Trade Analysis - Canucks acquire David Booth in 4-player Deal

Stay connected for news and updates

Today, the Vancouver Canucks acquired David Booth, LW, Steve Reinprecht, C and a 3rd round draft pick in 2013 from the Florida Panthers in exchange for veterans Marco Sturm, LW and Mikael Samuelsson, RW.

Florida dumped significant salary.  I didn't think Tallon cared about such things, but apparently everyone has their limits.  Especially important is that Booth has 3 more years after this one on his deal at $4.25M/year.  He was a -31 last year and is underperforming again this year.

Vancouver needed a 2LW to play on Kesler's line.  Sturm was not the answer, and they are hoping Booth is.  They will send Reinprecht down to the A where his $2.175M salary will not count against their cap.

Impact on the Canucks:

Salo +
Kesler +

Impact on the Panthers:
