Jacob Markstrom was the story for FLA last night as he stopped 40 of 41 to steal the victory and improve his numbers to 1.29 & .967. This guy is going to be a real good one but I'm taking a cautious approach as I'm not sure he's quite ready yet and not sure the team is ready for his arrival yet. But another couple games like last night and plans may be scrapped.
Evander Kane finally got the promotion
I've a lot of us have been waiting for as he joined Burmistrov and Antropov on the 2nd line and he did his thing with an assist, two shots & four hits in 17 minutes of action.
Scott Hartnell joined Jagr & Giroux on the top line and broke out of his slump with 2+1=3 last night.
Kimmo Timonen led the Flyers with 26:35 & 4:54 on the PP and recorded two assists, so all you people that have been bailing on him lately might want to come running back. He may be slowing down but I don't expect him to be useless this season.
Phil Kessel with another goal last night to give him nine in eight games and he's on pace to match The Great One at 92.
David Steckel now has goals in three straight games but he was back on the 3rd line last night and didn't see much PP time.
Some people were concerned about Dmitry Kulikov's ice-time with Campbell & Jovo around this year but he's a fixture on PP1 with Campbell and is averaging 21:10 /gm. He had a PPA last night and has 4A in his last six games... it'll be a big breakout season for him.
Yannick Weber led the Habs with 24:56 of ice-time last night... but no points on three shots to show for it.
Ryan Callahan with his typical busy night with a goal, three shots, three hits and four blocks.
The Devils are really hurting at C so they may try Zach Parise in that role... he lined up between Kovalchuk & Palmieri in practice yesterday. Would be nice to get the Devils two big guns together on one line.
Hilarity here... despite three straight shutouts, Terry Murray is expected to go with Jonathan Bernier tonight instead of Quick. That's whack.
Guy Flaming from The Pipeline Show with a good rundown and predictions on which guys are heading back to Jr. and which guys are sticking as the magical nine game threshold approaches. Spoiler Alert: Guy sees pretty much everyone sticking.
