Thursday's Injury Updates - Dekanich, Babchuk, Pronger...
Progress!... CBJs goalie Mark Dekanich has been activated from the IR and sent to the AHL to get in some game action. He's expected to return in a few days and should be backing up Mason on Saturday night. I'd give it until 7:30 on Saturday before he's the CBJs new #1.
Anton Babchuk is on the IR with a hand injury so he'll be out for a bit... and just when he started sucking just a little less.
Sergei Kostitsyn returned last night but only played 10 minutes so I suspect he's not over his LBI yet.
Erik Gustafsson missed last night's game due to a wrist injury. Hopefully he can get healthy soon cause he might have a chance at the last spot on the Flyers D-core ahead of Lilja.
Chris Pronger returned last night after missing six with that eye injury and despite the shield surely cramping his style he found a way to play 25 minutes and still mixed it up with four PIMs... so don't think this is gonna change him.
Matt Read also returned for the Flyers last night after missing three with a UBI.
Forgot to mention this yesterday... Duncan Keith returned on Tuesday night and played 24 minutes after missing the previous three due to an injured hand.
Peter Mueller (concussion) has been practicing and could potentially return tonight but I wouldn't assume anything is going to go according to plan with this guy.
Mikael Backlund (broken finger) is close to returning and could make his season debut on Friday.

Is it a good idea to grab Dekanich at this point? I mean he may wind up taking over as starter, but is start in Columbus really where you want to be?
Right now my goalies are Price, Lehtonen and Elliott. Elliott may be on the outs now that the Blue have a new genius coach that has restored Halak.
Should I jump on this Dekanich train early?
Yes, I’d drop Elliott for Dex.

Depends on your situation… if you want a #2 that has a good chance to take over the #1 job and get a lot of starts (with middling averages) then take a look at Dekanich. In your case I’d probably give it a shot and drop Elliott, given that Elliott’s value looks to be dropping and you can afford to gamble a little with two solid starters ahead of him.

I’d probably hang onto Elliott for another week to see how the Blues situation plays out.
I think many (including us) are getting a bit ahead of ourselves with Dex. He’s an unproven goalie on a terrible team.

I don’t know, probably can’t get more than a 60 point player for him, maybe less.

In a league that counts W, GA, SV & SO……..
Goalies are Ward, Lundqvist, Schneider. Drop Schneider for Dekanich?
Dex will probably play more than Schneider. I’m not big on Schneider in 1-year leagues because Luongo will get the lion share of starts.

I’d hang onto Schneider for now.
Like I said above Dex is no sure thing… but I love the upside.

Emerson Etem
Any thoughts on Etem?
His #s so far are sick: 19 games w/ 43 points — 25 goals and 18 assists
It’s impressive, no doubt, but I tend not to get too carried away about big seasons from a 19-year-old… scared off by guys like Drayson Bowman and Brett Sonne. But Etem had a good numbers the past two years as well so it’s not like he’s a one-hit wonder.
You like his chances to jump straight to the Ducks next year?

they seem likely to have an opening in their Top 6 at RW
heck, they have an opening on the other wing in their Top 6 right now
Agreed… unless Palmieri beats him out for that spot.

Reimer....
I’ve dropped Reimer in my pool (2pts W, 5 pts SO) for Enroth…..did I jump the gun? I already have MAF and you can only carry two goalies….I’m in a deep pool, only Thomas Griess was available.
What’ca think?

Too soon… sounds like goalies are hard to come by so I wouldn’t have given up on Reimer so easily.

Thanks,
I had a think and then, reversed the drop….close call,
could have been the end of my season….we’ve got a 20 man roster with 26 guys in the pool, not alot on the waiver wire.

ewww, yeah… in a deep league like that you need to either wait it out or find a Leafs fan that will give you something for Reimer.
