So close, you can taste it!
Alexander Semin had his ass stapled to the bench for the 3rd period last night, his owners won't be happy about that but maybe this will get him going as he has just 1+2=3, minus-4 with 17 shots over his last nine games. It's a really bad sign when he's not even getting chances/shots.
Big peripheral night for Corey Perry with a PPG, nine PIMs & five shots... he's starting to defrost a little with 2+2=4, 13 PIMs & 18 shots over his last five games. The Ducks are still dead last in the league in goals, so you know things are going to improve.
Daniel Carcillo with 2A last night as he lined up with Kane & Sharp. He has 1+3=4, plus-2 & 30 PIMs over his last five games... definitely worth a look.
Henrik Zetterberg has been dealing with a mid-body injury but has been playing through it... dude has been a real pain in my mid-body so far this season but maybe he's starting to get going with 1+2=3 & plus-4 over his last five. The points will come eventually... for one, he's only converting on 5.4% of his shots, so that will improve, and he has exactly zero PPPs so far and that is simply an aberration.
Jhonas Enroth was given his third start in the past four games and he remained undefeated by stopping 36 of 37. Enroth is a good young goalie but he's not this good and once he cools off then I'd expect Miller to monopolize the starts thereafter.
Peter Holland with his first NHL goal on his first shot last night. He played less than eight minutes though so don't get your hopes up here.
Sami Salo with an assist last night and he has 4+5=9 & 28 shots over his last 10 games.
Ray Emery with his best outing of the season as he stopped 24 of 25 to run his record to 3-0-1 despite pedestrian numbers (2.70 & .905). Corey Crawford hasn't been great this year but I think his job is safe.
Valtteri Filppula with a goal last night and he has 1+3=4 & plus=6 over his last three games. It's been a good start for him but he doesn't contribute in enough categories to get me too excited.
Derek Roy with B2B 3-pointers and he's really come on with 4+4=8 during a four game point streak.
Craig Anderson gave up two goals on his first six shots as was pulled two minutes into last night's game. His averages are brutal (3.60 & .883) but at least he had been picking up wins (6-6-1)... until his last five games where he's 0-4-1. I bailed on him this week in a league where I need a goalie that is going to give a little more quality than quantity.
The Brandon Dubinsky - Brad Richards - Ryan Callahan line broke out of a mini-slump last night as each of them had a goal and two points. It's been a bit of a slow start for all of them, especially Dubinsky as this was his first goal on the season, but if these three stick together then look for solid returns.
Nicklas Backstrom is bouncing back nicely after struggling last season and he has 3+7=10 over his last six games.
James Neal with two PPGs last night and that unit has been dangerous lately as Neal is 3+4=7 with five PPPs & 24 shots over his last five games.
Nikolai Khabibulin took his first loss of the season but it speaks volumes to how well he's played when giving up three goals on 30 shots is your worst outing of the year so far through the first 10 games. I'm waiting for him to fall back to earth but he's impressed me by keeping the dream alive this long.
Not sure where this has come from but I'll guaranteed it won't continue... Eric Nystrom has goals in four straight games for Dallas. He now has five in 10 games for the Stars on a sweet 31% sh%.
The Devils have recalled Vladimir Zharkov from the AHL... he's a real sniper with two goals in 79 career NHL games.
Niklas Hagman cleared waivers and was sent to Abbotsford by the Flames.
