Sunday's Daily Dosage - Seguin, M.Smith, Johansen...

There is hot and then there is whatever Tyler Seguin is right now as he had three points last night and is 10+5=15, plus-11 with 30 shots over his last nine games.  I'll admit that after his production & usage last season, I thought he was a year away from a breakout like this but I've obviously underestimated the kid.  Bravo to you if you knew this would happen.

Mike Smith with a 31 save shutout of the Sharks last night and he's now gone eight games with a regulation loss (6-0-2).  I'll mention this again... since getting shelled on opening night by the Sharks, he's now 7-1-3, 1.87 & .938 over the 11 games since... very impressive.

Two points last night for the Sens Zack Smith, I grabbed him in a Salary Cap league that rewards TOI as he's been seeing a lot of ice (especially SH) and contributes in a bunch of categories.  He's on pace for 40 points, 100+ PIMs, 150+ shots & 100+ hits.

Ryan Johansen returned after being a healthy scratch last game and had both CBJs goals in a 2-1 win.  He now has 5+2=7 over his last eight games so why he's being scratched and only playing 13 minutes a night???... that's a coach out-thinking himself.

Milan Hejduk with goals in three straight games and he has 3+2=5 & 14 shots over that span.  Don't ever write this guy off, he just keeps hanging around and putting up points.  Here are his points-per-game in the seven seasons since the lockout: .78, .88, .70, .72, .79, .79 & .71.

T.J. Oshie had a late SHG and now has 4+2=6 & plus-5 over his last five games.

Kris Russell scored in his Blues debut but he only played 14 minutes and saw 1:11 on the PP.

Nice evening for Kevin Shattenkirk with a goal, plus-2, four PIMs & four shots while playing a season high 24 minutes... he has 1+7=8, plus-6 & 18 shots over his last eight games.

Hitchcock gave Brian Elliott a chance to show what he can do last night and he turned in a 19 save shutout of Tampa... so take that, Halak!

Jamie Benn dropped the mitts with Jakub Kindl late in the game last night and that gave him a pretty healthy fantasy line with 1A, seven PIMs, four shots, four hits, two blks & 11 FOWs.  The kid is turning in a monster season.

Evgeni Malkin with 12 shots(!) last night but just one measly assist to show for it.... but you know what they say, good things come to those that shoot.

Chris Kunitz scored on five shots last night and now has 4+2=6 & 26 shots over his last six games.

Eric Staal with his first point in eight games as he had 1+1=2 & five shots last night.

Johan Franzen with another two points and he has 5+4=9, plus-8 & 20 shots during a four game point streak.

Niklas Kronwall has points in his last five straight (3+2=5).

Playing opposite of Seguin has its benefits as Brad Marchand had three points last night and 3+5=8 during a five game point streak.

Derick Brassard was a healthy scratch last night for the CBJs... well deserved.

Getting called up from the AHL yesterday was Evgeni Dadonov & Philip Larsen.  Larsen has 10 points in 10 games and is 4th in league scoring by a dman so maybe he'll get a chance to soak up some of Goligoski's PP minutes.

According to reports out of Europe, Mikko Koskinen has signed to return to Finland.  He's #6 on the Islanders depth chart right now (behind Poulin & Nilsson in the AHL) so likely they're not too concerned about this.
