Friday's Daily Dosage - Vlasic, Halak, Nash...
In a performance that will likely either win your the week or send you into fits of rage, Marc-Edouard Vlasic dropped 1+3=4, GWG, plus-4 & five shots on Detroit last night. This totally came from out of nowhere as this guy has been sub-20 points in three of the past four seasons.
Craig Anderson has won three in a row following a streak where he lost five in a row which started after a streak where he won five in a row... so buckle yourself in as it's rollercoaster ride with him this year.
Let's check in on the Blues net situation... Jaroslav Halak was given the start following two fine performances from Brian Elliott and he stopped 20 of 21 for the win last night. Grab yourself any Blues goalie you can find right now as they're only allowing 22.6 shots/gm during Hitch's reign.
Slava Voynov with 1+1=2 last night including a PPG. He's worth keeping an eye on but he'll have to do his damage on the 2nd PP unit.
Goddam Rick Nash is killing me this year... he used to get his points in spite of a lack of talent around him and now that there is some talent to play with he's clamped up. He has 1+3=4, minus-13 with 39 shots over his last 10 games. There is not much you can do but bench this guy and wait for him to snap out of it.
Final game of the Super Series went to the Russians 7-5 last night. Hawks prospect Mark McNeill had 2+1=3 for the WHL but there were a pair of Russians who you'll be hearing a lot more of in about six weeks that stole the show as Tampa prospect Nikita Kucherov & the undrafted Nikita Gusev had three points & a plus-5 each.
Erik Cole now has 2+3=5 during a four game point streak and 5+4=9 in 12 games after starting the season in a funk.
Blake Wheeler with his first goal of the season last night so let's see if he can keep it coming now that the seal is broken?
The GWG on four shots for Matt Moulson last night and he's on one of his runs with 4+2=6 during a five game point streak.
I've been pumping up Martin Erat's ownership lately with a few plugs and added him myself in a couple of leagues... and he's going well with 5+4=9 & plus-4 in the nine games since returning from a UBI.
Niklas Backstrom with the 27 save shutout last night and with all the hype about Josh Harding gaining value, Backstrom is quietly up in the top six in the league in both gaa (1.97) and sv% (.935). This guy is a very solid tender (.918 career NHL sv%) so you can typically count on him for excellent averages, the last two years kinda excluded.
The CBJs Curtis Sanford was pretty solid in his first start of the season as he stopped 26 of 27 but took the SOL. That has to be enough to earn him another start on Saturday, n'est pas?
Two goals on six shots last night for Evander Kane and remove the first five games of the season where he was only playing around 12 mpg and he's 8+5=13 in his last 13 games. Somebody I know really likes this guy.
Each of the past three games for Nikolai Khabibulin has been his worst performance of the season as he gave up three goals on seven shots and was pulled after one period last night. A reversion had to happen but the severity of it is alarming as in a flash he's turned into Khabibulin from one season ago.
Mike Richards with a pair of goals last night and he has five goals & plus-4 over his last five games.
Jonathan Quick gave up three goals on 38 shots last night for his third straight win. He's regularly giving up three goals, like in six of his last 10 games, but I will give him credit as he's keeping the implosions to a minimum as he's only given up more than three in one of his 16 games so far... that's huge.
Kyle Okposo was a scratch again for the Islanders.
Up from the farm are Justin Faulk, Ben Smith, T.J. Brennan & Casey Wellman. Going down are Zac Dalpe, Vladimir Zharkov & Eddie Lack.
Glorious empty net miss from the Predators Craig Smith last night...
... I don't tolerate hot-dogging on my fantasy teams so kid might be riding the pine for a while after costing my team a goal.

Potential Trade
Alright guys I need some trade advice: I’ve been offered Zetterberg and Anderson for Krejci and Vokoun. My other two goalies are Smith and Niemi, so I’m pretty strong there. This trades seems too good to be true but I’m not sure if I want to let go of Vokoun. Thoughts?
My thoughts are that the upgrade from Krejci to Zetterberg isn’t as large as the downgrade from Vokoun to Anderson… so while it would be nice to buy low on Zett, I’d probably refrain.
But then again, if your league is more weighted towards goalies that play a lot of minutes and see a lot of shots, then Anderson is in a much more certain position than Vokoun, so that might sway me a little.

Despite dropping E. Kane early in the season, I’m glad I got him back. Last night was a good one, and he looks on path to be that Breakout star.
Thanks for the Smith video, I missed that last night. I love the moment where you can see Lupul really giving it to him. I’d love to know what he said, haha!
That video was classic on so many levels… I love how everyone in the arena (except Smith) thinks it went in and he just has to wait a few seconds for everyone to figure out what a tool he is.

Steffan
Patrick Steffan still takes the cake, not only did he miss by not shooting over but falling, but the Oilers turned it around and scored to tie 5-5 on a break-away…
Agreed that Stefan’s was worse due to what happened afterwards but his was more clumsy than anything, so I think Smith’s was a bigger miss.
