The biggest and brightest from the past week in Fantasy Land, as voted by FHS writers.

Three Stars of the Week:

3rd Star: ladies and gentlemen, we have a tie! From the San Jose Sharks, numero 19, Joe Thornton...1+6=7, 3 PPP, 1 SHP, and +4. Oh, and he had a 100% shooting percentage because he only took one shot. No easy task. And from the Winnipeg Jets, numero 33, Dustin Byfuglien...2+3=5 and 15 SOG in 3 games. Picking up the slack with Enstrom out. FHS Votes: 1 second and 1 third for each player.

2nd Star, from the Montreal Canadiens, numero 31, Carey Price... he was 2-0-1 with two shutouts on the week. So the roller coaster ride is on the uptick for now. After a bit of a rough start to the year, Price's overall stats have settled in to a very digestible 2.16 GAA, .917 SV% with a couple of shutouts thrown in for good measure. FHS Votes: 1 second, 2 thirds.

1st Star, from the San Jose Sharks, numero 44, Marc-Edouard Vlasic... The pickle was on fire (wait- are pickles even flammable?) posting 1+6=7, a +7, 1 PPP and 1 SHP in just 3 games. Talk about out of nowhere, too. Temper your expectations here though, as MEV is coming off seasons of 16 and 18 points. FHS votes: 3 firsts.

Honorable mention: Matt Read (4+1=5 in 3 games), Mike Richards (4 goals. 2 shorties - those count double bitchez).

Rookie Star of the Week: Matt Read, PHI. As Scott Hartnell can tell you, getting promoted to Giroux's wing doesn't hurt one bit. With Jagr sitting out a few, Read made the most of his opportunity this week with a 4+1=5 bottom line in only 3 games.

HM: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, EDM (0+5=5 with 3 PPP in just two games), Adam Henrique, NJ (0+4=4 in 3 games).

Breakout Star of the Week: Evander Kane, WPG. Guy needs some love with the colorful line of 3+2=5, plus 5, 8 PIM, and 15 SOG in 3 games. Multi-cat beast in the making.

Breakdown of the Week: Alex Ovechkin, WAS. Easy one here. Guy had no points and a minus 5 on the week. Only the second time in his career that he's gone four straight games without a point.

DHM: Tomas Vokoun, WAS. Holy smokes! 3GS, 0 wins, 4.19 GAA, .875 SV%.

Free Agent Star of the Week (less than 50% owned in Yahoo! leagues): We'll go with Vlasic here, as he is only 6% owned, but as we've mentioned a couple of times already, we're not recommending him long-term.

HM: Steve Montador (20% owned,1+2=3 in 3 games), Matt Read (18% owned), Matt Moulson (47% owned, rec'd here last week by Dio, scored a goal in each of his next 3 games).
