Tuesday's Daily Dosage - Henrique, Parise, Foster...
More magical stuff from Devils rookie Adam Henrique as he had three points last night including a PPA & SHG. That's 3+9=12 over his last nine games and 7+15=22 in his last 20. Zajac's return could really rock the boat but this kid is looking like the real deal. I'm hating myself for not seeing this coming but I don't think anybody could have.
Zach Parise with three points as well and he has 3+8=11 & 32 shots over his last eight games... so your our patience is finally being rewarded. Dude has just three PPPs all season, you think he's due for a little more luck in that area?
The Devils picked up Kurtis Foster from the Ducks... they have a major need for a dman who can play on the PP, so Foster could get a decent look but he's a major injury risk and has high scratch potential. If it's free to add him and you have an extra spot, then give him a go but I wouldn't go out of your way. Don't get me wrong, this is a great opportunity for Foster but there is a reason that this guy is on his fifth team in the past four seasons. Matt Taormina & Mark Fayne were the two dmen seeing the most PP time last night, so they'll likely be relegated to 2nd unit duty.
Dwayne Roloson returned after three games off and lasted all of 21 minutes after giving up three goals on 12 shots. You gotta believe that Steve Yzerman will find himself a new goalie shortly.
Terry Murray was gassed by the Kings yesterday... he's a stifling coach, to both the opposition and his own team, so this can only be a positive if you own Kings skaters. The interim, John Stevens, had some pretty strong offensive clubs while he was in Philly so he should help but if they're serious about bringing in Darryl Sutter then this situation could actually get worse... well not really possible, but I'm going for the dramatic here. Let's see how this all plays over the next week before jumping to conclusions.
2+1=3 from Steven Stamkos last night and he moves into a tie for the league lead with 18 goals. Tampa has a minus-22 goal differential and yet Stamkos leads the team with a plus-9 (next best is plus-3). Throw in 30 PIMs in 30 games and this dude is such a stud.
Four goals in the first 17 games for Ilya Kovalchuk and now five in his last seven.
Johan Hedberg wasn't great (32/36) but picked up the win last night and he's been pretty solid for the entire season (9-5-1, 2.37 & .913). Definitely a good insurance play and maybe even a speculative one as well.
I can't believe this guy keeps finding NHL work... Antti Miettinen signed with Tampa yesterday after being a KHL bust this season. He'll need to clear waivers, so we'll see if anyone bites but if not then Tampa gets themselves a guy who has seen a lot of top 6 minutes and PP time and topped out at 44 points... not my cup of tea.
As has been speculated for weeks, Nikita Filatov is headed back to the KHL for the rest of the season. He'll be a RFA after this season and the Sens will likely retain his right but I have a hard time seeing him returning next year... maybe a few years down the road when he's matured both mentally & physically. So I would go ahead and drop him for now... dammit.
The Predators have demoted Jonathon Blum to the AHL... he's been a major disappointment to me as well. His ice time has been sliding for weeks and this is likely just a wake-up call, I'd expect him back in Nashville soon.
The Hawks have sent Ben Smith down.

No shot anyone uses a waiver claim for Antti. They gave him 2-years, 3 million. Ridiculous.

Well, who has? They were boring as hell.
2 years, $3M and a NMC (or is it just NTC?). Wouldn’t be my first choice.
A NMC as well???… wow.

Henrique....
Been a stud for me for about 3 weeks. Anyone who gets top playing time, u have to gamble on. Couturier could do the same while Girouix is out.
Yep sort of
I think anyone centering a line of Parise & a happy Kovalchuk is fantasy gold but can the same be said for Hartnell-Jagr
I kind of doubt it.
Giroux is the engine that makes that line go.

So what are the chances...
…that Henrique does lose his top-line job to Zajac? If there’s a solid chance of this happening, I’d like to try to unload Henrique in a package for a goalie, but if not, I need him at center. They couldn’t possibly break this line up right now, right?
Thanks.
nah, i don’t see him losing his job outright. he’s be great.
and Zajac will be rusty.
if/when there is the inevitable cold snap, expect Zajac to get some time there.
but overall you gotta think Henrique sees a lot more time there.
still, that is no reason not to sell high on him
if you need a G, and he will help you land one, that is something to explore
kind of see it going the other way
as soon as Zajac gets his legs I believe he is with Parise-Kovie if only because Zajac is the superior face-off man.
With the D-men the Devils are running out there they need all the face-off wins they can get especially on the powerplay.
That might not be a bad thing for the Devils though because they have a talented speedy little winger in Tedenby who could use a good center and along with Clarkson or even Palmieri has the capability of being a very effective 3rd line.
What I want to see is how they incorporate Josefsen pretty darn good 4th line center with no one to pass to.
Of course none of that completely makes up for the fact that Tallinder and Fayne are your top D pairing

What about going back to the original plan (from the beg of the season) and splitting Kovy and Parise up?
Parise with his old friend Zajac and Kovy with Henrique. Elias and Clarkson would take the RW duties?
Will be interesting to see what DeBeor does.

Is it a good idea to pick up Henrique? I’ve got Lecavalier, Carter, Spezza and Backstrom at center. He has a higher fpa than Vinny and Jeff but I’m reluctant to trade any one of these proven stars over a hot rookie who might lose his first line spot in the future.

I think
that’s what this entire discussion has been about
Henrique’s future value.
There are some good points made, but really, we have no answers here only more questions.
I’m trying to get answers from DeBoer but he told me nothing except to quit calling his house. :)

Looks like Zajac is back centering the top line so I’m gonna hold back on Henrique. Kind wish I had him in my holster ready to use at will though.

Agree with Dio, certainly doesn’t hurt to try to sell high on Henrique. I’m really not sure what is going to happen. The best case would be an injury to someone on the 2nd line and then Zajac & Henrique could be C1 & C2 but otherwise DeBoer has said he wants to keep L2 together.
