Wednesday's Daily Dosage - Bachman, Foster, McGinn...
Very busy night and I'm in a hurry here, so help me out and drop a comment with anything I missed...
Start #2 of his NHL career and Richard Bachman posted a 34 save shutout of the Rangers. That should get every ones attention as he's beginning his career in Lalime-like fashion by only allowing one goal in his first 150 minutes of ice hockey.
Kurtis Foster played nearly 22 minutes last night in his Devils debut and led the team with 5:56 of PP time (even more than Kovalchuk!). As I said the other day, there is a real opportunity here for him, so worth a look, but I'm not overly optimistic that he's going to be able to capitalize.
Jamie McGinn was given a little bone as he saw some PP time and took advantage with his first PPG in three seasons. Relative to his usual production, he's hit a major hot patch with 5+1=6 over his last seven games. He's still a young guy and he scored in Jr., so nice to see him respond as he's been playing with Marleau & Handzus a little lately.
Marc-Andre Fleury lost for the fourth time in his last six. He started the year 9-2-1, 1.87 & .932 in his first 12 games and is 6-5-1, 2.67 & .901 in his last 12... that's troubling.
The Avs Stefan Elliott with his third goal of the season last night on a nice rush. This was his first point in six games but he played 17:36 last night and it is impressive that he's retained his spot in the lineup thus far.
The Kings showed how much they want to keep interim Coach John Stevens around by scoring exactly zero times last night in his first game in charge.
Tuukka Rask posted the 41 save shutout of LA and he's now 6-1-1, 1.47 & .952 over his last eight games and has given up more than three goals in just one of his 11 games this season.
Didn't realize this (where have I been?)... Scott Hartnell now has goals in six straight games and is 6+2=8, plus-8 with 19 shots during the streak.
Sean Couturier stepped into Giroux's C1 role last night and saw 17 minutes of ice-time (no PP time) but he is now pointless in his last 15 games.
Streaks galore for Bryan Little as he has goals in four straight, points in seven straight and points in 12 of 13 (9+6=15, plus-11 & 39 shots). I was busting his balls at the beginning of the season but he's really turned this around and now I feel like a real hoser.
Cody Franson played his typically low 14 minutes last night but with an assist he now has a point in four straight and is 3+4=7 & plus-5 over his last 10 games. We'll let you know if the ice-time ever picks up.
Steve Mason saw his first action in a month and maybe he's been gone so long he forgot how bad he usually is and stopped 30 of 31 to beat the Canucks last night.
Rather unbelievably, the Jets have claimed Antti Miettinen on waivers... have fun with that.
AHL up & down: Evgeny Grachev (up), Blake Geoffrion (down) and Zach Hamill (up).

Kaberle had another assist to give him a 4 game point streak with 7 assists over that span. It’s noteworthy for a guy who’d been so horrendous all season prior to this.

Stastny v. Little
I’ve held on to Stastny for a long time but Little is on a tear and is available. Thoughts on these two?

I’d hang onto Stastny just a bit longer.

What about Krejci vs. Little?

probably go Little here as well, assuming you can always swap him out for a hot player on the wire.

I’d go for Little, not a big fan of Stastny’s.

Fleury
Fleury’s struggles are directly related to all the injuries on the Penguins — esp. on the blueline.
With Letang and ZMichalek out they are missing their 2 best defensive d-men (sorry Brooks, you are 3rd). It also doesn’t help that Crosby is now again too, but the big issue is the D corps. Even Engelland missed some games recently, which meant a lot of minutes for AHL-ers.
I always felt like MAF was overrated. It might have something to do with the fact that I hate his showboating ass.

No, you're right, he is overrated
He’s not nearly as good without the D in front of him.

There is only 1 "n" in Hutchison
Michalek Out
Ran into by his own D-man, out with a concussion.
