Friday's Daily Dosage - Hall, Stastny, Neuvirth
Ton of games to run through today so I'm sure I'm going to miss a lot a few things. Leave a comment with anything noteworthy that's absent.
Taylor Hall returned in style yesterday with 2 PPG in 16:17 of ice time. It looks safe to deploy him as you normally would.
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins with a PPA yesterday and he's really sizzling with 6+13=19 and 9 PPP over his last 13 games.
Hopefully you haven't given up on Paul Stastny just yet as he put up 2+1=3 on 4 shots. His owners really needed that as he'd been slumping and getting a bit unlucky as of late.
Logan Couture with a nice stat line last night: 1+1=2, plus-3, and 4 shots.
Michal Neuvirth pitches the shutout and given how bad Tomas Vokoun has been, Neuvy has a real good shot at getting a lot of upcoming starts if he can build on this. I just traded Christian Ehrhoff to our very own Diomedes7 for Neuvy in Dio's keeper league. So this shutout makes me especially happy.
Alex Ovechkin scored the lone goal of the Capitals-Jets game and that puts him at 10 goals in 30 games on the season. I looked back to see how quickly he reached 10 goals in previous years: 10-11 in 18 games, 09-10 in 11 games, 08-09 in 20 games, and 07-08 in 16 games. So we're obviously talking about a different player this season.
Alexandre Burrows with the stat line of the night: 1+1=2, 6 PIM, 3 SOG, plus-1. He was recently dropped in a 1-year league that I'm in and I'm still trying to figure out why.
Shea Weber with 2 goals including one on the PP and he has 4+3=7, 4 PPP, 6 PIM, and 24 SOG over his last 7 games. Wish I owned him somewhere.
Two more assists for Pavel Datsyuk and doesn't it seem like he has 2 assists every night? He's at 1+7=8 over his four game point scoring streak. He even freight-trained Shea Weber while holding the puck last night. No seriously, he did.
Apparently the Coyotes players I criticized yesterday took umbrage with my comments as Oliver Ekman-Larsson was 1+1=2 with a plus-3 and Mike Smith finally won a game.
Another game, another win for Brian Elliott. He turned away 25 of 26 Ranger shots to make it 3 straight wins. He's won an unreal 13 of 15 games he started this season. How can they ever give Halak another start? Unreal.
Michael Del Zotto notched a goal and he has 1+8=9, plus-7, and 3 PPP over his last 10 games. Make the pickup people.
Matt Carle with 3 assists last night. He's on a four game point streak where he has 1+6=7. Never been a fan of this guy as he's never delivered much on the PP but use him if you need him.
Tomas Kaberle with another assist and he's got 5 straight games with an assist (8 in that span). I'd say he's digging Montreal.
Steven Stamkos scored the game winner in OT 30 seconds in to give him 1+1=2 for the night. He's another hot player with 8+8=16 in his last 12 games.
Olli Jokinen put forth 1+1=2 and even though I consider him a bad hockey player, he somehow has 4+5=9 over his last 7 games so he's obviously proving me wrong.
The streak is at 16 games with no points for Sheldon Souray. The thing that's hard to figure is that he has 57 shots in that span. One would have to think that his luck is going to change but I wasn't waiting for it as I dropped him for Tomas Kaberle in one of my leagues.
Richard Bachman made it 3 straight wins to start his career.
Recalled from the AHL: Kevin Poulin, Chris Summers, Tomas Tatar

mostly, i’m thinking he’s a good play b/c Lehtonen is fragile.
but he could also unseat Red Light Raycroft….
I agree, it enhances his value but doubt they would keep him when Lehtonen gets healthy

I’ve watched all three of his starts in their entirety, mostly because he’s on my farm team in both my keeper leagues, and I also added (and started) him in the FHS Beta League this week.
So far so good…Dallas has played really well in front of him, but Bachman has looked very, very solid and seems to have amazing composure for a rookie.
And tonight he looked a bit leaky, and frankly, overwhelmed at times. Pretty huge week for the kid.
Here’s Dallas so far this year in the second of B2Bs:
DAL 2 – CHI 5
DAL 0 – LAK 1
DAL 2 – DET 5
DAL 1 – SJS 4
DAL 0 – PHO 3
Raycroft started the first four of those games. Lehtonen started the 5th one and was injured on his third shot. Something tells me those will be the last B2B starts Lehtonen sees in a Stars uniform.
Including tonight’s creaming, Dallas has been outscored 24 – 8 in the second of B2B games this year. Youch.
As a Red Wing fan living in Dallas
Been pretty impressed
I don’t know if he is playing tonight (likely not) vs Kovalchuk and Parise w/special guest star Adam Henrique.
But if he does I hope he gets lit up.
I still hate the Stars
Wonder what happens with Campbell they are both about the same age are they not.

Bachman is confirmed for tonight. Dallas has been horrible in the second of B2B games this year…but then again, it was Red Light Raycroft starting in all but one of those games.
Will be watching Kovalchuk
So given what you know of Dallas in back-to-backs is he in your lineup tonight?

In my H2H league, I’ve got no choice (weekly lineup changes so Bachman is locked in until Sunday).
In keeper league #1, I will dress Bachman as I have Lehtonen down so I need to make up for Kari’s lost starts…and my next best goalie is Ward so I’m willing to take some chances. I have dressed Bachman for all of his starts in this league.
In keeper league #2, I will not dress Bachman, as I’ve got Lundqvist/Thomas/Rask/Biron/Emery, so I’ve got no reason to look for help from Bachman. I haven’t dressed him once in this league, for obvious reasons.
So it really depends on what other options you have available. Do you have Bachman yourself? If so, what are your other options?
NJ is like fifth last in the league in goals per game.
They are not as dangerous as they look on paper. I’d start him if I owned him.

Oh if I were a gambling man
I like the way the Devils have played offense the last 2 weeks and would bet on a big win against this Dallas team.

Almost makes me want to call a bookie, if of course I knew a bookie.

Oh No
I could never own a Dallas goalie.
I want them to lose every game. :)
Can’t get behind either the Stars or Cowboys.
Strange thing is I really like the Texas Rangers.
I guess when I lived in Michigan I had no animosity towards them as they pretty much always sucked.
So after moving here being a baseball fan it was fairly easy to get behind them and so now I am even torn when watching the Tigers/Rangers play.

He’s currently getting lit up for 5 goals against the Devils. Go figure.

Did nobody else notice
Last night in the Rangers vs Blues game, my super secret dark horse super sleeper Carl Hagelin skating on a line with Richards and Gaborik. I counted quite a few shifts from the middle of the 2nd period to the middle of the 3rd. I know they didn’t get any points but it’s a very interesting line.

good too see him get a bump up the lineup… pray that it lasts.

Nothing lasts with the Ranger lineups. Torts changes lines every 3 or 4 minutes.

I have no illusions
Just thought it was an interesting combination.
Shows Tortorella is thinking about Hagelin offensively so now I dream of powerplays
I’d like to see Hagelin / Richards / Callahan
Gaborik seems happy with Stepan / Anisimov

WTF do I do with Crawford?
I have Price and Theodore, so I am good there but I also have Crawford doing nothing right now :(
Unashamed Alex Burrows Fanboy, MN Wild Lover, and believer in the FLA Cats Blueprint
sounds to me
you have it figured out already,
Crawford sits on the bench and doesn’t hurt you.
Though you may want to try him against struggling teams should he get the call.
Should he turn it around then you have options but till then no way to recover your investment
Unless you can find an owner who is more optimistic than you.
I assume he was selected in the 2nd to 4th round range depending on your league.
