Saturday's Daily Dosage - Emery, Ennis, Jokinen...
This is turning into a bit of a story here as Ray Emery stopped 24 of 25 to beat the Ducks last night and is 5-0-1, 1.71 & .938 while finishing the last six games for the Hawks. Grab him. Ride him. Do what you have to do.
Patrick Sharp extended his point streak to eight games (7+5=12) with 1+1=2, plus-2 & six shots last night. I'm not exactly sure how he's perceived by other fantasy GMs but I think this guy might be the most underrated superstar right now as he's on his way to a monster season but isn't talked about as much as some other guys.
Tyler Ennis with two points last night and he has 3+2=5 over his last six games... he seems to be just getting back up to speed after missing 17 games with a sprained ankle. He's likely available on some waiver wires and is definitely worthy of your consideration.
A nice return to FLA for Olli Jokinen as he had 1+1=2 & seven shots... he's been pretty effective lately with 5+6=11 & 32 shots over his last eight games. Chicken & egg thing here but Iginla's play has picked up lately and Jokinen has really benefited from their partnership.
Two assists last night for Mikael Samuelsson, his first two points in four games with FLA.
There has been some chatter lately about how Daniel Alfredsson hasn't actually retired yet, it just seemed like it for a while there. He had three points last night and has 4+8=12 & 32 shots over his last 10 games.
A four point (& plus-4) night Jason Spezza extends his streak to a tidy five games (3+8=11)... I smell Fantasy Star of the Week consideration.
Jared Cowen with 1+3=4 & plus-4 last night while logging 28 minutes. I was going to write about how this guy is not worthy of your valuable time but checking out his game log he now has 2+6=8 & plus-7 over his last nine games, so he could help a few teams.
Zach Parise also had a quad of points and I think we can officially pronounce his slow start dead as he has points in nine of 10 with 5+11=16 & 41 shots during that stretch.
Adam Henrique kept his place on the top line, played 18 minutes and had a SHG in Zajac's return... so he's not giving up his spot without a fight.
Is our collective honeymoon with Richard Bachman over after he was beaten six times by the Devils last night?... I hope not. Talk amongst yourselves (or in the comments).
The Flames Leland Irving made his NHL debut last night and he deserved a better fate as he stopped 39 of 41 but took the SOL. This should help give the coach a little confidence in using him again but don't expect to see much of him.
The rumourmongers have traded Kyle Turris like 10 times already but they're saying that something could happen at any time. Let's see where he goes before over-analyzing this but he could really get a huge boost as he's in a bad situation with a coach that isn't getting the most out of him.
Wild prospect Charlie Coyle is leaving BU, he'll play for the US at the WJC and then head to Saint John of the Q when it's over. Apparently he and the books didn't get along too well.
The Oilers have sent Magnus Paajarvi to the AHL. At this stage, this is best thing for him as instead of sitting he needs to play and get his confidence back. Hopefully he pulls a Pacioretty and makes a positive experience of his demotion, coming back as a player who is ready to produce in the NHL. Don't forget this kid is only 20 and has an excellent track record so I'm not giving up on him.
Up from the AHL is Eric Tangradi & Nick Bonino.
The following players were returned to the AHL: Carl Klingberg, Tomas Tatar, Matt Hackett, Tim Erixon, Calvin de Haan, Kevin Poulin & Brandon McMillan.

Could agree more about Sharp.
I picked him up relatively cheap in the FHS Alpha league and every couple of weeks I get a low ball offer for him.
Anybody who owns him doesn’t underrate him. He’s a stud.

Turris to the Senators for Rundblad and a 2nd rounder.
Why is it that so many teams are keen on Turris? The guys has proved nothing so far. Nice deal by the Yotes.

Just a little respect
I have beaten the “Parise is a top 5 forward” to death recently and he is showing doubters why.
Henrique got his props. Well deserved.
Ilya Kovalchuk 6+6=11 / 42 SOG last 10gp w/ 8 PIM and 10 Hits, not much but more than we expect, minus-5 sucks but a plus-2 in the last five we can more than live with
Kovalchuk 1G, 1A, contributed more than just the 2 points last night
With Dallas up 1-0 and Jersey looking a bit disinterested about the 15:00 minute mark of the 1st
Kovalchuk said what the hell, then proceeded to go end to end – not around – but through the entire Dallas team to put one, point blank on Bachman.
If anyone finds a link please post it
He didn’t score and went off for a line change but I knew the game was over for Dallas at that point cuz Ilya Kovalchuk decided enough was enough.
Clarkson scored a weird goal shortly after that to tie it but the entire energy of the team was changed shortly before on Kovy’s rush.
Things are looking much better in Jersey, at least offensively.
I myself plan to monitor Tedenby closely.
