Sunday's Daily Dosage - Malkin, Selanne, Turris...
Evgeni Malkin has been feeling it lately but this was a new level as he had 3+2=5 against Buffalo last night. That gives him 6+6=12 during a five game point streak and puts him just behind Giroux for 2nd in the league in points/gm at 1.38 (for players with 10+ games).
Teemu Selanne's return to Winnipeg was pretty glorious, the fans gave him a long ovation and he responded with two assists but still let the Jets win. This extended Teemu's point streak to eight games where he has 2+9=11, so he's had no problem adjusting to Coach Boudreau's system.
So the Kyle Turris swap did in fact happen as the pundits predicted as he goes to Ottawa for David Rundblad & a 2nd round pick. Turris should be given the opportunity to own the #2C role for the Sens and I'm on board with the potential here as he produced in college, the AHL and led the Coyotes in ESP/60 last year (2.30) so give the kid some quality linemates, ice-time and some PP duties and we should see this kid blossom. As for Rundblad, I'm not liking it as much as he goes to a crowded blue line in PHX and a coach that has a spotty past with young players. I don't know, we'll have to see how it goes but I'm not thrilled with this if I'm a Rundblad owner.
Jacques Martin was fired by the Habs and replaced by Randy Cunneyworth on an interim basis. This can only really help as Martin is a pretty conservative coach who has relied on a decent PP the past few years but it's been brutal this season, 28th in the league at 12.5%. So hopefully Cunneyworth will open up the offence a little, bring some new ideas to the PP and that might turn things around for under-performing players like Cammalleri, Gionta & Subban.
Reports say Darryl Sutter will join the Kings shortly as their new head coach... the upside is that things really can't get worse for their offensive players, so perhaps this will help.
Rich Peverley only played 10 minutes yesterday (didn't see the game so let me know if there was an injury reason) but that's all he needed to notch three assists. He's been very effective this year, mostly on a line with Kelly & Pouliot, and has 2+10=12 over his last 10 games.
Was just talking about how bad Lauri Korpikoski was the other day, so it figures that he now has goals in three of his last four games... prior to that he had two in a 17 game span.
Danny Cleary with 3A last night and he now has 3+5=8 & plus-8 over his last seven games.
Another busy night for Cal Clutterbuck with a goal & seven hits. He's missed three games recently with a LBI but has 7+6=13, plus-8 & 71 hits over his last 15 games... not bad at all for a guy that most write off as one-dimensional.
Tomas Kaberle extended his point streak to six games (the last four with the Habs) as he had a PPA last night and nine assists during the streak.
A PPG for P.K. Subban last night and he has points in three straight as he's enjoying some sweet feeds from Kaberle.
Zach Bogosian with 1+2=3 last night and while he hasn't really put together a run, he has 2+7=9 over his last 12 games but is stuck on a single PPP to show for the whole season.
Milan Lucic scored yesterday but the real news was that he kept his PIM streak going with a 15 PIM night and now has 30 over his last four games.
Niklas Hagman played 22 minutes last night for the Ducks and scored to extend his point streak to four games (3+2=5). I wouldn't expect this to last but it's better than nothing.
Cory Emmerton with 2+1=3 last night and that gives him three points over his last 20 games... yes, he had nothing in 19 straight coming in, so if you saw this coming then you must be using some sorta time machine to cheat at fantasy hockey, bravo to that.
AHL movement: Olivier Roy & Justin Pogge are up and Steven Kampfer, Jordan Caron & Ben Smith are down.

Big miss on Patrik Elias
It was all about Elias in Montreal scoring franchise record tying and breaking goals in the win over the hapless Habs.
Giving him goals in 3 straight games and 5+4+9 in his last 8gp
Speaking of Kovalchuk, we were weren’t we
he made a pinpoint feed through the Habs D on Elias’ 1st goal
added another gorgeous outlet on the David Clarkson runaway goal that tied the game at 3
both assists coming on the powerplay, giving him 6+8+14 in last 11gp

My Bad
the 2nd assist was not in fact to David Clarkson but to Dainius Zubrus for the 5th goal of the game.
Clarkson was assisted on a similar pass from Adam Larsson

Cam is blocking Elias’s sweet week out because he helps me beat Cam up pretty good this week in a league we share.

Evgeni Malkin
didn’t get to see much of this one with Wings and Devils playing at the same time
every time I took a look in, it was intermission or commercial break
I don’t think I am getting center ice again until they do a better job scheduling they could start some games on the half hour instead of all 6, E.T games at the same time
12 games yesterday and 3 today kind of sucks as well
Interested in your 3 stars of the week now looks like a dogfight between Parise and Malkin.
btw Cam thanks for sort of saying Lauri Korpikoski doesn’t suck

not a problem on Korpikoski… hope he works out for ya but I wouldn’t get your hopes up.
Who had the better week? I voted for Parise 1st and Geno 2nd, Zach had the better peripherals although Malkin had the same number of points in just three games.

Gotta give Speeza some love to. I think he had 8 points in three just like Malkin.
