Fantasy Stars of the Week - Week #10
The biggest and brightest from the past week in Fantasy Land, as voted by FHS writers.
Big thanks to Michael Benedicks, who provides much of the FSOTW commentary this week.
Three Stars of the Week:
3rd Star, from the Nashville Predators, numero 35, Pekka Rinne... 3 games, 3 wins, 111 saves, 1.62 GAA, and .957 SV%. Forty saves in consecutive games and dude has won 5 straight. FHS Votes: 1 second, 3 thirds.
2nd Star, from the Pittsburgh Penguins, numero 71, Evgeni Malkin... 5+3=8, 16 SOG, 3 PPP in only 3 games. How could you block a guy from being a star of the week when he puts up a hat trick and a five spot of points? FHS Votes: 1 first, 4 seconds.
1st Star, from the New Jersey Davils, numero 9, Zach Parise... 3+5=8, plus-6, 4 PIM, 18 SOG, 2 SHP he's got the most colorful line of the week. A Breakdown of the Week here a couple of times this year, but it's safe to say he's turned it around. All he needs to do is start producing on the PP and he'll be back in the elite category. FHS Votes: 3 firsts, 2 thirds.
Honorable mention: Jason Spezza, OTT (3 GP, 3+5=8, +5, 14 SOG)
Rookie Star of the Week: Jared Cowen with 2+3=5 in 3 games and he's glad they traded Rundblad.
HM: Adam Henrique (4 GP, 2+3=5, 2 SHG!), Richard Bachman (3 GP, 2 wins, 2.67 GAA, .913 SV%)
Breakout Star of the Week: Rich Peverley with 2+4=6, 2 PIM, plus-4, 2 PPP in just 3 games. He's at 21% ownership in Yahoo!
HM: Zach Bogosian (3 GP, 2+2=4), Erik Johnson (3 GP, 1+3=4, +2, 1 GWG)
Breakdown of the Week: Jack Johnson with no points and minus-6! Didn't he start the season hot? What the hell happened?
DHM: Carey Price (3GP, 4.06 GAA, .870 Save% and he got his HC fired), Anze Kopitar (3 GP, 1A, -2)
Free Agent Star of the Week (less than 50% owned in Yahoo! Leagues): Peverley again (21% owned). He's looking at a 60 point year if he keeps it up. And you thought that 3-year extension worth $9.75 million was overpaying.
HM: Ray Emery (37% owned 2GP, 2 Wins,1.92 GAA and .927 SV%), Tyler Ennis (37% owned, 3 GP, 2+1=3)

Trade Proposal
I was just offered P.A. Parenteau for Alexander Semin. Thoughts? My first thoughts are to take it, but just wanted to double check.
Sometimes
I use the ladies room because it’s 4’ closer to my desk

I’d keep Semin as well. Put him on the bench in hopes he’ll come alive.
Parenteau isn’t going to do much for you.
Amazing that Semin has come so far that we’re discussing if trading him for Parenteau is a good idea!

Boo!
Malkin 5 goals, 3 assists
Parise 3 goals, 5 assists
And Malkin did it in 3 games, while Parise took 4
true enough
however I if you do SHP in your league, they are hard to come by, that combined with
0 PPP, plus-5, 4 PIM, 0 GWG for Zach
2 PPP, minus-1, 0 PIM 1 GWG for Geno
You really can make a case for either one.
I have Geno though I wish I had both I could use the +5 rating

Well said MOP, that’s why I voted ZP for #1.

I just checked Yahoo! rankings because that is what I have
their standard ranking system
Offense G A +/- PIM PPP SOG
Goaltender W GAA SV% SHO
The way it shakes out there is
- Zach Parise 3 (G) 5 (A) 6 (/-) 4 (PIM) 0 (PPP) 18 (SOG)
- Tim Thomas 2 (W) 1.00 (GAA) .975 (SV%) 1 (SHO)
- Evgeni Malkin 5 (G) 3 (A)
1 (+/) 0 (PIM) 3 (PPP) 16 (SOG)
followed by #4 Olli Jokinen, #5 Ilya Kovalchuk, # 6 Tuukka Rask, #7 Jason Spezza, #8 Steven Stamkos, and #9 Pekka Rinne
So I guess in a standard league 6 is better than -13 PPP and SHO’s carry more weight than wins

Could have been worse… you could be been left the 3 stars all together even though you had the same number of points as Parise in one less game.
Spezza was robbed!
