Saturday's Injury Updates - Richards, Carter, Backstrom...

This doesn't sound promising... Mike Richards has been put on the IR after taking that headshot on Thursday, so he's out for at least a week and probably longer with a likely concussion.

A minor ankle injury kept Jeff Carter out of last night's game but with three days off he should be able to return for the CBJs next game.

Niklas Backstrom left last night's game with a LBI that the coach does not consider to be serious... so hopefully he's not out long... unless, of course, you own Harding.

I'm not a MD but a ruptured leg tendon sounds nasty so I'm guessing we ain't gonna see Mark Giordano for a while.

Andrew MacDonald missed last night's game due to a leg injury but it's just a day-to-day thing.

Marek Zidlicky has missed the last eight games due to a concussion but he's begun skating, so there is some progress here.

Nathan Gerbe took a skate to the face last night and left the game with a nasty gash to his kisser. We'll see if he's as tough as Filatov and can shake it off.

Dustin Penner is expected to return tonight after missing nine due to a hand injury... hopefully he had some new ones installed as he's still looking for his first goal of the season.

Jaromir Jagr returned last night after missing most of the past six games due to a groin injury and everything seemed to be fully operational as he had 2+1=3 & 10 shots.

Kristian Huselius made his season debut last night after being out since July with torn pecs. He played 19 minutes with five on the PP, so they threw him right back into the fire.

Also returning to action last night from the injured list was Tyler Ennis & Brayden Schenn.

Semin out tonight with a Shoulder Injury

Hamrlik still out with a LBI. Mathieu Perrault back in on the 4th line. A little addition by subtraction for the Caps. A few less bad penalties and defensive blunders should help. Oh, and Reimer to start tonight.

Markov owners should plan on him never returning. Any games he plays will be a bonus.
