Jose Theodore stopped 40 shots to shutout the high-scoring Bruins last night. Might have to change that nickname to "Three-or-less" as he hasn't given up more than three goals in any of his last 16 games... that is super-solid goaltending.
The Wild's Matt Hackett with his first official NHL start last night and he stopped 42 of 44 shots to beat the Kings... very interesting. Backstrom was able to dress as the backup and could be ready for their next game but we'll see if they decide to let the kid ride until he cools off.
With 1+1=2 & seven shots last night, Zach Parise extended his point streak to six games (2+6=8). Same streak for Ilya Kovalchuk (4+3=7). The third member of the terrific trio, Adam Henrique, with two assists to run his streak to seven games (2+7=9). Henrique is up to 3rd in rookie scoring... loving this kid.
Olli Jokinen with the GWG last night and he has 3+3=6 & 15 shots over his last four games.
Jared Spurgeon with 23 minutes of ice-time and another assist last night, so he has 1+7=8 over his last 13 games... definitely worth a look-see.
Mason Raymond with his first goal (SHG) since his return last night and he should have had an assist as well in 19 minutes of action. So let's call it three points in three games.
The return hasn't been so triumphant for Kyle Turris as he doesn't have a point in five games so far. He did play over 12 minutes for the first time last night (17:31) with 3:28 on the PP but, predictably, Tippett is using him on the 3rd/4th line.
Ray Emery finished his third straight game going 31/33 to beat the Islanders... Coach Q said afterwards that he's considering going back with Emery in the Hawks next game on Sunday. I smell a goalie controversy in the oven.
Tyler Seguin was back in the lineup after being scratched last game but maybe he still hasn't woken up as he has just 2+3=5 over his last 11 games.
Both Brett Connolly & Devante Smith-Pelly are expected to be released by their clubs and will try-out for team Canada's WJC entry. So they'll likely be missing from NHL action for the next month and there is always a chance that the team decides to send them back to Jr. once the tourney is over.
The Bruins have signed Dougie Hamilton, the 9th overall pick from this summer's draft, to an ELC. He currently leads the OHL in scoring by a dman.
The Leafs have sent Joe Colborne down to the AHL.
