Sunday's Daily Dosage - Pavelski, Koivu, Emery...
I'd like to give a round of applause to Little Joe Pavelski and his 3+1=4, nine shot night. His nutso week (12 points in his last four games) has pretty much guarenteed the big win I needed this week and should get me 1st overall and a big wad of cash! Woo hoo.
Rick Nash has been a little cold (for him) lately with only five points in ten games going into last night's game. A 2+2=4, plus-3 with seven shot night changes all of that.
Sami Lepisto picked up three assists last night... his first points with the Jackets. He only had one point in the 18 games previously so this has fluke written all over it.
Evgeni Dadonov returned from his broken finger last night with two goals. He scored eight points in his first eight NHL games but only three points in his next 17 games. The moral of the story is he's got some potential but he's too inconsistent to depend on.
Sergei Samsonov continues his rebirth in South Florida. He picked up two more assists and now has nine points in his last eight games. There are a lot of owners out there desperate for a LW down the stretch. Maybe he's your answer?
Ray Emery with another great start for the Ducks yesterday. He's only allowed two goals in 137 minutes of action. You have to think the Ducks will be riding the hot hand as the look to sure up a playoff spot. Right now that's Emery. Start him with confidence.
Mikko Koivu tacked on two assists last night. He has four points in three games since he returned from injury. I know he was dropped in some shallow leagues... you might want to grab him if you can.
Erik Karlsson also had two assists last night (and a plus-2). He's got 10 points in his last nine games.
Michael Grabner continued his hot ways with a 1+1=2 night. He now has nine points in his last nine games and is now only four points from an FHS-defined breakout of 50 points.
Matt Duchene was in a bit of a funk a few weeks ago (only seven points in 23 games) but has turned it on the last few games. His 1+1=2 night yesterday gives him six in his last four games.
The Leafs scored five goals last night... all of them by players with three or less goals going into the game. One of them was Nazem Kadri, who picked up his first career NHL goal. He also added an assist and a plus-2. I still don't think he'll offer fantasy owners much help... at least not this season.
Another Leaf to hit the scoreboard was Joey Crabb who had the game of his career last night... 1+2=3 and a plus-2. He only had 10 points in 38 games going into last night so don't expect another one like this anytime soon.
Not do be outdone by Crabb, Mark Mancari led the way for the Sabres last night with a 1+2=3 night. Going into the game his career NHL totals were seven points in 25 games... so this was definitely not expected. He has had some good AHL seasons but he's not somebody you need to worry about. Fantasy relevant guys like Jason Pominville (1+1=2), Tyler Myers (3 assists) and Tim Connolly (1+1=2) also produced some nice numbers.
Curtis McElhinney started again for the Sens last night... his second in a row. After a one-goal-win two nights ago he stopped 37 of 39 shots for another win yesterday. The Sens allow way too many shots and McElhinney just isn't good enough for me to recommend him... even if he is hot.
