R.I.P. 2010/11 Dynamite Hacks

As you may or may not know, Jay & I are in a fantasy league with a bunch of current/former Rotowire staffers and since we occasionally get asked about how our team's did, I though I would bring you the sad news that after challenging for top spot all year our team, the Dynamite Hacks, finished 3rd in the regular season and crashed out in the semi-finals last week.

It's a deep & competitive keeper league with 14 teams and we came into this season off a rebuilding year so we were hoping that some players would take a big step forward...

- Each team keeps 12 players and given what was left, we decided to build around our defense in the auction and pieced together a group that included Chara, A.MarkovVisnovsky & J.Johnson.  In addition to those guys we also got some great value out of guys like BurnsWisniewski & Hamonic

- Our goaltending was solid as we kept Vokoun & Rask and added Tim Thomas in the reserve draft.

- We weren't as loaded up front and spent half of our auction budget on Backstrom, Lecavalier & Horton (I'm sure you can see where this is going).

- We made a trade at the deadline to get Zetterberg, giving up Granlund, Wheeler & a few scrubs, hoping that he would be the final piece of the puzzle but that didn't help as Zetterberg, Backstrom, Duchene & Thomas all kinda tanked/rested/got hurt at the same time and that was our undoing.

C'est la vie, right?  To further compound our misery, it looks like our old friend Janet Eagleson may take the title.

Never fear, the future is bright for the Hacks as there's lots of cap space, most of our key pieces will return next year and we've got a nice group of young forwards emerging including the likes of Duchene, Couture, Okposo, Paajarvi & L.Adam

We accept your condolences... donations are also accepted.
