Monday's Daily Dosage - Fisher, Selanne, Radulov...
Mike Fisher continued his surprise playoffs with the GWG and a fight yesterday... he's increased his ppg by 1.23 after putting up .44 ppg in the regular season.
Teemu Selanne had two goals yesterday and four goals in three playoff games as he continues to defy aging... he'd be pretty crazy to hang them up after the season he's had this year.
Saku Koivu is just a pup compared to Teemu but he's still going strong with an assist in each playoff game and a six game point streak (1+6=7) going back to the regular season.
For all you KHL poolies out there... Alexander Radulov's Ufa squad took home the Gagarin Cup (KHL Championship) led by Radulov's 3+15=18 in 21 playoff games. He's had another dominant season, easily leading the league in scoring with 20+60=80 in 54 games (2nd place had 65 points). Recall that he signed an extension to his KHL contract last summer and is expected to play at least the next two seasons over there... dammit.
John Carlson has seen his ice-time reduced with Mike Green back, he only played 17:44 yesterday which was the lowest he's seen in a game since December. Carlson really came on this season, logging a lot of minutes and his production increased while Green was out but it will be interesting to see what happens next season as they battle for ice-time.
No fireworks or anything from Jonathon Blum but the Preds blueliner has quietly taken on a key role as he's playing top 4 minutes and getting #2 PP unit time lately. This bodes well for next season as he tries to lock down his spot in the lineup before top prospects like Ryan Ellis & Roman Josi arrive.
No word from the Flyers on who is starting game #3 tonight but I'd be pretty stunned if it wasn't Brian Boucher.
Brian Boyle started well this season and finished with a surprising 21 goals but he only has one goal over his last 24 games. The Rangers are using his big body on the PP and he's had some chances, generating nine sogs yesterday.
I think the Hawks are desperate for anyone to give them a spark as only Toews & Kane played more than Ben Smith did yesterday (20:29)... unfortunately for him he couldn't repeat his two goal performance from game #2, in fact he didn't even register a shot yesterday.
Daniel Sedin with a pair of points yesterday and that's 2+3=5 over his last two games to move into a tie for the playoff scoring lead.
Cody Hodgson was a healthy scratch yesterday as Raffi Torres returned from suspension... but Torres could be looking at a new suspension so Hodgson could be back in for game #4.
The US beat the Russians yesterday to remain undefeated at the U-18 WC. 2011 draft eligible J.T. Miller led the way for the US with two goals while Nikita Kucherov had two for the Russians to give him 5+5=10 in three games and the tournament lead in scoring so far.
