Wednesday's Daily Dosage - S.Kostitsyn, McDonald, Leighton...
Three-pointer last night for Sergei Kostitsyn and that extended his point streak to 10 games where he has 6+8=14. He's had streaks of six, eight & 10 games this year where he's totaled 33 of his points, in the other 51 games he's had 16 points. Now that he's shown that he can produce maybe he can work on spreading it out a little?
Andy McDonald with 1+2=3, plus-2 & nine shots last night... he's quietly had a very nice year with 12+20=32 in the 31 games since returning in February from a concussion.
A hat-trick for Thomas Vanek last night and that put him above 30 goals & 70 points, a nice bounceback season after a disappointing 53 pts last year. This is the most points he's had since a career high 84 pts back in 2006/07.
The Flyers have placed Michael Leighton on re-entry waivers so, as suspected, he could still end up being their playoff goalie if he goes unclaimed. I don't see why someone wouldn't claim him but NHL GMs are rare birds so who knows. He's been very good in the AHL this year with 14W, 2.22 & .926 in 30 games for probably the worst team in the AHL. If he clears then expect him to see a start for the Flyers this week.
Kevin Shattenkirk has points in seven of his last eight (2+8=10) and has a firm grasp on the rookie dmen scoring lead but not a peep out of anyone for Calder consideration.
Similarly, P.K. Subban with the GWG, four PIMs & five shots last night but no Calder buzz with him either... that's ok, I've already given him the FHS Fantasy Calder for this year.
There's been a lot of good times for Andrew Ladd this year but there's also been some ice-cold stretches and it looks like he'll finish the year on one of them as he has 1+2=3 & minus-6 over his last 10 games.
This is what you get if you grabbed Chris Mason for some last minute help in goal (I considered it)... he gave up four goals on 13 shots and was pulled in the 2nd period last night and while being 5-2-0 over his last eight games he's now given up 4+ goals in three of his last six games.
I was hoping for a decent 2nd half from Scott Gomez this year but he's had just 3A over his last 11 games... what a clown.
Carl Gunnarsson had an assist in his fourth straight game last night and he has 1+6=7 over his last eight games. He had a similar finish last season but then lost his mojo over the summer and was crap until now... so use caution.
Haven't heard much from the streaky Brad Boyes lately as he has just 0+3=3 over his last nine games.
Mike Fisher scored last night and now has 4+3=7 & plus-4 during a five game point streak... that's good to see after just 1+3=4 in his first 20 games with Nashville.
Phil Kessel extended his point streak to eight games where he has 2+7=9.
Jhonas Enroth stopped 23 of 25 to beat TB and he's carrying the Sabres into the playoffs while Miller is out. Expect him to be in Buffalo full-time next year but action could be limited.
A few AHL awards to mention as Sabres dman Marc-Andre Gragnani has been named the top AHL dman of the year, well earned as he led all dmen in pts (60 in 63 games), and Penguins prospect Brad Thiessen was named the best goalie as he went 34-7-1, 1.93 & .922... this one is a bit of a dubious decision if you ask me as while he led the league in wins and was tied for first in gaa, his sv% was 9th in the league and he only faced an average of 22.9 shots/60 mins playing behind a stingy defensive team. Anyhoo... the goalies to win this award over the past three years were Bernier, Schneider & Leighton, so Thiessen is in good company but won't be handed anything playing behind Fleury.

Just wanted to thank you for the awesome info all season. Your site is part of my daily “waste the first hour and half” of work time, and has helped me achieve Fantasy greatness here in suburban Philadelphia. Thanks again.
Thank you for reading and for the kind words… “fantasy greatness” eh?… sounds legendary, congrats. I may win one league but the only legendary thing around here was Jay choking in the playoff in our original league.

How many leagues are you guys actually in?

I’m in four this year, that’s about my optimal number, I start to lose focus if I’m in too many… results aren’t too bad: 1st or 2nd (out of 12), 2nd or 3rd (/11), 3rd (/14) and 5th (/12)

I’m in five.
Looks like I’ll be 3rd in one (although I finished the season 1st overall),
1st in another (finished the season 2nd overall),
middle of the pack in another,
3rd overall on the one I share with Cam and
last in a dynasty league… the team I took over was terrible.
