FHS Playoff Pool - Who You Should Have Picked...
This post will be of interest to the almost 500 people that entered the FHS Playoff Pool. We'll take a quick look at each of the 21 boxes and see who is still alive and who you should have picked.
Head on over to HockeyDraft.ca to check out your team and take a look at here to see how the picks broke down.
* = still alive
BOX 1
Alex Ovechkin - 10
*Daniel Sedin - 10
Henrik Zetterberg - 8
Mike Richards - 7
Sidney Crosby - 0
Daniel Sedin is far and away the best choice here... good thing 61% of you picked him.
BOX 2
*David Krejci - 11
*Henrik Sedin - 9
Jonathan Toews - 4
*Martin St. Louis - 13
*Patrick Marleau - 6
Any of the four remaining players could end up leading this box... well maybe not the gutless wonder.
BOX 3
Corey Perry - 8
Marian Gaborik - 2
Patrick Kane - 6
*Steven Stamkos - 6
Tomas Plekanec - 5
If you were one of the 28% who looked past Perry's monster finish to the season well down because Stamkos should finish up the leader here.
BOX 4
Brandon Dubinsky - 3
Dustin Brown - 2
Martin Erat - 6
Shane Doan - 5
Thomas Vanek - 5
All players are eliminated so Martin Erat is the best pick here. I'm sure those are the irst time those words have ever been typed.
BOX 5
Claude Giroux - 12
Mike Cammalleri - 10
*Milan Lucic - 5
Patrick Sharp - 5
Pavel Datsyuk - 15
Datsyuk not only leads this box but is tied (with Kesler) for the NHL lead. Milan Lucic will have his work cut out for him to catch Dats.
BOX 6
Brian Gionta - 5
*Joe Thornton - 12
Nicklas Backstrom - 2
Ryan Getzlaf - 6
*Ryan Kesler - 16
The Canucks-Sharks series will decide this one. I'm glad to have Kesler on my team though. What a beast.
BOX 7
Brad Boyes - 1
Jeff Carter - 2
Marian Hossa - 6
*Patrice Bergeron - 12
Teemu Selanne - 7
Bergeron is technically still alive but thanks to his concussion it could mean the end of his playoffs. 23% of us hope that's not the case. Jeff Carter was picked by 41% of you and only had two points in two rounds. Garbage.
BOX 8
*Dany Heatley - 8
Johan Franzen - 3
Mikael Samuelsson - 3
*Nathan Horton - 12
Ryan Callahan - 0
Horton and his two OT goals lead the pack here but Heater might have something to say about that.
BOX 9
Alexander Semin - 7
Bobby Ryan - 4
Danny Briere - 9
*Joe Pavelski - 8
Tyler Ennis - 5
It shouldn't take Pavelski long to assume the lead in this category.
BOX 10
Dustin Penner - 2
Ray Whitney - 3
*Ryane Clowe - 13
Ville Leino - 6
*Vincent Lecavalier - 13
My dumbest move in the Playoff Pool? Taking a flyer on Whitney and the Yotes with this pick. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
BOX 11
Chris Kunitz - 1
Danny Cleary - 6
*Mark Recchi - 7
Radim Vrbata - 5
*Teddy Purcell - 11
Only 9% of you thought Purcell would lead this category. Pat yourself on the back.
BOX 12
*Alexandre Burrows - 9
Drew Stafford - 3
*Logan Couture - 12
Ryan Smyth - 5
Scott Hartnell - 4
The top two picks were Burrows (44%) and Couture (33%) and they lead the box. Logan has the early lead but the head-to-head battle of their teams will end up settling this one.
BOX 13
Jason Arnott - 6
Jason Pominville - 4
Kris Versteeg - 6
Todd Bertuzzi - 6
Tomas Kopecky - 0
Three way tie for first. Only 3% of players picked Kopecky so this box is pretty much a wash.
BOX 14
*Devin Setoguchi - 10
James van Riemsdyk - 7
*Ryan Malone - 5
Sergei Kostitsyn - 5
Valtteri Filppula - 8
Setoguchi is looking good so far. His two OT goals have helped him to a big lead over Malone.
BOX 15
James Neal - 3
*Mason Raymond - 5
Saku Koivu - 7
Scott Gomez - 4
Wojtek Wolski - 3
Raymond still needs a few points to catch Koivu but he should get there.
BOX 16
*Christian Ehrhoff - 9
*Dan Boyle - 11
Kris Letang - 4
Nicklas Lidstrom - 8
*Zdeno Chara - 4
Chara just hasn't done it yet and he'll need a big third round to get back into this one. You'd really want one of Ehrhoff or Boyle here.
BOX 17
Chris Pronger - 1
Duncan Keith - 6
Lubomir Visnovsky - 3
Mike Green - 6
*Tomas Kaberle - 3
Kaberle could end up leading this but it's taken him ten games to get his first three points.
BOX 18
Bryan McCabe - 2
Jack Johnson - 5
James Wisniewski - 2
Keith Yandle - 5
Shea Weber - 5
Three way tie here. Only 17% didn't pick one of Johnson, Yandle or Weber. My idiot picks of Coyotes didn't even hurt me here.
BOX 19
Carey Price - 5
Jimmy Howard - 7
Marc-Andre Fleury - 5
*Roberto Luongo - 12
*Tim Thomas - 8
Two dog race between Bobby Lu leading the way.... 87% of us have one of those two.
BOX 20
*Antti Niemi - 7
Corey Crawford - 7
Ilya Bryzgalov - 0
Michal Neuvirth - 6
Sergei Bobrovsky - 0
Corey Crawford's two assists and one shutout are keeping him in his race. Niemi should take the lead very soon though.
BOX 21
*Dwayne Roloson - 10
Henrik Lundqvist - 1
Jonathan Quick - 4
Pekka Rinne - 7
Ryan Miller - 8
Only 24% picked Rollie the Goalie and he'll take home this box with ease.

Damn Flyers kilt me.
I had more Sharks and Canucks than anything else, but in the East, I was skewed too far toward Philthy.
I’m surprised that it doesn’t seem like too many people had the East figured out… thought there would be more people who went big on TB or Boston.

i liked BOS, but given the choice b/w Lucic and Giroux, i went w/ Giroux
liking BOS, i took Chara (> DBoyle) and that didn’t turn out well
Re: TB…
i did select Marty StL, but he’s it — and i’d do that again, I’m sure
I did not select Roloson. Took Rinne instead. Didn’t expect either of them to make the Final 4.
Love the pool, though, and thanks for posting this update/review.
Its also reassuring to see one of the experts in the Top 5.
I liked TB to make the final four and needed an Eastern Conference goalie so took a flier on Roloson… that’s paid off.
I’ve picked SJ to win the cup each of the past three years so I was due for get lucky one of these years.
I’m impressed that Jay loaded up on BOS & VAN players as they could both be there in the end… but he loses any credit for also picking a handful of PHX players???
