Wednesday's Daily Dosage - Markov, B.Smith, The Pipeline Show...

Reports say that the Habs have re-signed Andrei Markov for two more seasons... between ankle and knee injuries he's only played 52 regular season games over the past two years so while you'll want to be cautious this is a great opportunity to get an elite dman at a discount as there will surely be GMs that will avoid him at all costs.

We'll have to wait and see what the Wings do over the offseason but GM Ken Holland said that stud prospect Brendan Smith will be given "every opportunity to make our team (next season)".  That's great but it's a big difference between making the team as a top 4 dman replacing Rafalski or a 7th dman behind some UFA signings... so let's not get too excited.

Ryan Smyth claims he hasn't asked LA to trade him to Edmonton despite the reports from yesterday... so somebody ain't telling the whole truth here.

Guillaume Latendresse had a lost season with abdominal/hip injuries but the team says that he's working out and they expect him to be in "the best shape of his young playing career" at training camp in the fall.

Great listen here... The Pipeline Show had ISS head scout Ross MacLean on for a 2-hour chat last night (link for recap & audio) lots of great stuff as Ross took all kinds of question, including one from yours truly (thanks for the plug guys!) on which draft eligible player has the most fantasy upside and who were a few fantasy sleepers... Ross said RNH was the top guy and tossed out Alexander Klokhlachev, Vladislav Namestnikov & Colin Jacobs as three potential sleepers who could put up some points.

Interesting concept here as TSN had former NHL GM Craig Button re-draft the last two NHL drafts based on what he knows now... in both cases he comes up with a new #1.  [2009 & 2010]
