Wednesday's Daily Dosage - Cogliano, Jeffrey, Galiardi...

Hopefully Cogs brings the angry to Anaheim and picks up his play

After four years without breaking out and sliding down the depth chart, Andrew Cogliano ran out of chances with the Oilers and they shipped him out to Anaheim for a 2nd rounder.  I liked this guy after he made a strong debut with 45 points but since then he's had three sub-40 point seasons and really hasn't show signs that he's anything better than that.  I don't see him getting a lot of opportunities in Anaheim this year as he'll take over Marchant's spot on the 3rd line but he could be in for a promotion next year as Saku Koivu is in the last year of his deal.  The Oilers had already replaced Cogs with Eric Belanger so there is no real gain for any other Oilers due to this move.

The Penguins re-signed Dustin Jeffrey on a two-year deal... it'll be a two-way in the first year and one-way in the second.  Heading into the offseason it looked like a spot or two might be open for Jeffrey next season (once he recovers from major knee surgery) but then the Pens went and re-signed Kennedy, Dupuis, Adams & Asham and signed Steve Sullivan as a UFA, so I don't see where he even fits in when everyone is healthy.  So I'd defer your high expectations on this guy for another season.

The Kings missed out on Brad Richards but they do have Brad Richardson locked up for two more years... that's as close as you can get, I suppose.  Richardson can occasionally fill in on a scoring line but he's much better suited for a bottom six role cause typically a coach prefers that a scoring line scores and that's not Richardson's specialty.

T.J. Galiardi re-upped for one year with the Avs... his numbers really slipped last year as he missed half the season with a wrist injury and he was due to come back to earth after having things fall into place nicely in 2009/10.  I'm not really a fan as this guy won't give you much other than A & PPA, so I won't be wasting my time hoping that he can bounce back.

Jonathan Cheechoo has signed a two-way deal with St.Louis... don't get your hopes up as this is likely just a signing to boost their farm team.  The Blues are actually a pretty deep team up front so there would have to be quite a few injuries for Cheechoo to even get a look on a scoring line.

The Wild signed their 1st round pick from this summer, Jonas Brodin, to an ELC... he'll play another year or two for Farjestad in the SEL.  This guy looks like a smooth-skating dman but I don't see a lot of offensive upside... kinda in the Niklas Hjalmarsson mold... so don't go overboard and take him too early in your prospect draft.

i like Cogliano still.

For a second round pick you cant go wrong. Wish Toronto would have tried something, seems like he was easy to aquire and is already proven to be a good 3rd line guy. Still young could be more.

He could be a decent 3rd liner for the Ducks but I won’t be taking him on my fantasy team.
