Patrick Kane suffered a wrist injury while training during the offseason and it will require surgery that is expected to have a 6-8 week recovery time. That should mean that he'll be ready to go by the time training camp starts but it will be something to keep in mind. I wouldn't worry too much about it affecting him over the course of the season.
Michael Frolik was re-signed by the Hawks on a three-year deal. He had a pretty miserable season going on a rather statistically incredible run without a goal in 32 straight games during which Florida sold low and dumped him. He finished the season with only 11 goals on a very healthy 251 shots... if I had to bet then I'd say it's pretty unlikely that he repeats his 4.4% sh% so just by dumb luck his numbers should increase this season. He could be on the 3rd line or hopefully he lands a spot on the 2nd line with Hossa.
The Hawks also signed UFA dman Sami Lepisto to a one-year deal... he has some offensive skills but he's been passed around like a joint over the past few years and I'm sure the Hawks just see him as a depth dman.
The Flames re-signed Brendan Morrison to a one-year deal... good move for them as after missing out on Brad Richards (or any other FA Cman) they needed a guy who can play with Iginla & Tanguay and Morrison filled that role admirably last season. He's not going to be a great fantasy option as he doesn't contribute in enough categories but he could approach 50 points.
More RFA signings... Karl Alzner with the Caps and Trevor Lewis with LA. Alzner doesn't have any fantasy value but he did partner John Carlson last year and so look for them to become one of the best young pairs over the next few years. There doesn't appear to be a lot to get excited about with Lewis as he'll likely center the 4th line in LA with not much room for advancement.
New Jersey signed 4th overall pick Adam Larsson to an ELC... it's hard to say what the Devils have planned for him as they don't even have a coach right now and given that he's already played two full SEL seasons, it's debatable if another SEL or an AHL season is really necessary. He could jump right into the Devils lineup but I wouldn't expect instant offense.
The Panthers finally got Erik Gudbranson signed to an ELC... given how close he was last year, I'd expect him to make the team out of training camp but I don't think he has a lot of offensive potential unless you like the Eric Brewer type. Let some other jabroni in your league take this guy cause they can't see past the fact that he was a 3rd overall pick.
