I'm going to list the moves I've made this summer in my dynasty league. The league operates with a cap ($66 Million), a 35 signed player limit (main roster = 2G, 6D, and 12F - rest go to farm team), and and unlimited "Prospect Pipe" where we can draft (or trade for) players whose are unsigned within the league. We also have waivers (26 or older), and you have to designate an enforcer for one of your forwards (mine is Chris Neil).
Once we get closer to the season, I will post my expected lineup. This is an 18 team league where 8 make the playoffs, and I came in 8th last season but defeated the 1st overall seed in the quarterfinals only to lose a close one in the semis. The season before I inherited the team in December but could not make the playoffs. I took educated guesses on Carey Price and Kari Lehtonen last season, and I'm sticking with them. If all goes to play, I'm aiming for the 5th spot.
But, until then, here are the moves I've made this offseason. I'm pressed up against the cap a bit and I only have 3 open contract spots, so if I sign someone it wont be till when training camps are alive and well. Let me know what you think of the moves (team name is the New York Spartans):
F - Pierre-Marc Bouchard signs an extension with NEW YORK ($3.300m per year for 2 years)
F - Chris Neil signs an extension with NEW YORK ($1.250m per year for 2 years)
D - Cody Franson signs an extension with NEW YORK ($2.200m per year for 2 years)
G - Kari Lehtonen signs an extension with NEW YORK ($4.500m per year for 2 years)
F - Daniel Briere signs an extension with NEW YORK ($5.600m per year for 2 years)
F - Dustin Jeffrey signs an extension with NEW YORK ($1.250m per year for 2 years)
To New York Spartans: Tim Kennedy + EDM's 2011 6th round pick
To Detroit: LON's 2011 4th round pick
Note: was liking Kennedy's chances at getting time in Florida, but then they had to go and sign 100 free agents.
To EDM: NYS 2nd 2011
To NYS: Alzner, MTL 4th 2011
Note: I had traded away Alzner and a 4th earlier in the season for Bergfors, but I couldn't pass this up as my d-core is now set (7 NHL regular shift d-men).
To NYS: S. Silas + MOS 4th 2012
To MOS : E. Grachev
Note: Didn't really wanna do this, but I needed roster space. Grachev has his last shot with NYR this season anyways.
2011 Draft Results:
1st Round: [15-015] NYS - New York Spartans (TheSchwab): Nathan Beaulieu (D)
3rd Round: [10-046] EDM - New York Spartans (TheSchwab): Phillip Danault (F)
4th Round: [03-057] MTL - New York Spartans (TheSchwab): Matt Nieto (F)
6th Round: [10-100] EDM - New York Spartans (TheSchwab): Andrew Fritsch (F)
6th Round: [15-105] NYS - New York Spartans (TheSchwab): Alan Quine (F)
7th Round: [15-123] NYS - New York Spartans (TheSchwab): Seth Griffith (F)
Note: Really happy with my draft class.
Note: I had signed Bernier last season to a 3 year/2 Mill per cause I thought he might come alive in Florida, but obviously not. The guy I traded with really wanted Beaulieu, so I figured if he buried Steve for me why not. Forbort is a little closer to the NHL and Culek is a consolation prize (ya never know with the Sens).
Note: As you'll see next week, I think Briere is on the way down next season. I've been a huge fan of Flesichmann and Vermette has a chance to bounce back.
Let's hear about your deals, readers.
