Wednesday's Daily Dosage - Ivan Hlinka, K.Hayes, Zherdev...

Zherdev claims he'll be high-stepping it back to the NHL again someday.

Canada rebounded at the Ivan Hlinka by outshooting the Czechs 43-14 for a 6-1 win [recap & summary].  Charles Hudon & Jarrod Maidens led the way with 1+2=3 each.  Hudon had the most points of any player on the roster during his Jr. season as he was named QMJHL ROY following 23+37=60 in 63 games... but he's only 5'8" so understand that there are limitations.  The US beat the Russians, 5-4 in OT [recap & summary]... so far Alex Galchenyuk has been pretty quiet for the US with just 1A through the first two games.

The US is also holding it's Summer Junior Evaluation Camp right now and it get interesting as the Swedes & Finns both send over pretty decent lineups for a little tournament.  The Swedes pounded the Finns 7-1 last night, led by 1+3=4 from Wild 2010 2nd rounder Johan Larsson.  Another under-the-radar prospect that we like, Johan Sundstrom, a 2nd round pick of the Islanders this summer has 1+4=5 through two games so far... he's ranked #127 in our Fantasy Prospects DB.  The US started with 44 players and gave them all a few scrimmages before trimming the roster to 29 for games versus Sweden & Finland.  Just one surprise amongst the cuts, Blackhawks 2010 1st rounder Kevin Hayes didn't make it.  Two names on the roster that caught our attention were Brian Ferlin, a 4th round pick of the Bruins, & Kenny Agostino, a Penguins 5th rounder.

Nikolay Zherdev is returning to the NHL... well not officially and not this season but he said so, "I will be back there. I am sure of that" .  What kind of world do we live in if we can't take Zherdev at his word?  He also has a strong track record of leaving the KHL for the NHL as he's done it on four separate occasions during his career already.

Robbie Schremp is taking "Rob Schremp Hockey" to Sweden as he's signed a deal to play in the SEL this year.  That's too bad as if you can't make it with the Islanders then we're not sure what to tell you.  He'll likely be back after a year or two overseas.
