Wednesday's Daily Dosage - Brunnstrom, Hiller, Alfredsson, ...
Fabian Brunnstrom has agreed to a try-out with the Red Wings. He actually had a pretty decent rookie season (17+12=35 points in 72 games) a few years but it has been downhill since then. The Wings are an odd place to go for a try-out as their 23 man roster is set and somebody would need to get traded to make room for Brunnstrom. What we're trying to say is that unless something drastic happens, don't expect to see Brunnstrom in red and white this year.
Jonas Hiller said he's symptom free in an interview with a Swiss TV station. "I'm going to be ready come training camp and the season," he told Schweizer Fernsehen TV. "And the All-Star game is certainly a goal again." He's still an injury risk but it sounds like he's progressing well. We'd still recommend to back up HIller with Dan Ellis if possible but this is encouraging news. [PD with the transcript in English]
Daniel Alfredsson was back on the ice yesterday for the first time since his back surgery in June. Everything went well and he's hopeful to be ready for training camp. We wouldn't want to be betting on a 38-year-old with injury question marks. Pick Alfie as a flyer and nothing else this year.
