Hey all, wanted to have any constructive thoughts on this rebuilding team I just took over. 14 team league, keep 10 on normal roster + 10 prospect list. Prospect = 81 games or less. Thus I could draft...Clifford from LA and just stash him for the year as a 'prospect'.
This team has some pieces, and I could finangle it to a play off spot (8 of 14 make it). But that may not be the best path. It finished 13th last year.
Rosters:
4 LW, RW and C (12 total)
6 D
2 G
5 Bench
3 Injured Reserve
CATEGORIES: Forwards/Defensemen:
Goals
Assists
Plus/Minus
Penalty Minutes
Powerplay Points
Short-handed Points
Shots on Goal
Goaltenders:
Wins
Goals Against Average
Saves, not sure if this is switching to SO...but I'm assuming it's SVs
Save Percentage
My Team. I keep 10 players: Bolded are the players I am definitely Keeping:, Italics are those I am considering.
C - Brian Boyle C - Matt Duchene C - Cody McCormick C - Mike Fisher C - Mikko Kiovu
LW - Shawn Thornton LW - Thomas Vanek LW - Milan Michalek LW - Brandon Prust
RW - Chris Stewart RW - Milan Hejduk RW - Brandon Yip RW - Daniel Alfredsson RW - Alex Kovalev RW - Tim Jackman RW - David Moss
D - John-Michael Liles D - Erik Karlsson D - Sergei Gonchar D - Jordan Leopold D - Matt Carkner D- Kevin Shattenkirk D - Theo Peckham
G - Craig Anderson G - Jonathan Quick G - Sergei Bobrovsky
Some of the teams have already submitted who they are protecting, and it seems there is a huge bias towards keeping RWers, thus I am tempted to Protect Both Old Men RW's and flip them to a contending team later for picks/prospects.
Prospects -TJ Galiardi (uplisted to active roster, but doesn't count this yr against my 10 keeper list)
Jared Cowan
Patrick Wiercioch
Robin Lehner,
Matt Toarmina -my only selection so far, rest of these came w/ the team.
Ryan Stoa
Bobby Butler
Gabriel Landeskog
Marcus Kruger
Plus 2 more selections in the current prospect draft. This team was created last yr b/w COL and OTT organizations, thus the Bias seen.
your thoughts are appreciated. I enjoy a challenge, and it appears this will be one. My current thought is to build up w/ near ready "silver" prospects (guys that will play above their skill...like Paul Byron) and hope for the best, to at least build a pipe line. Wait for trades or another year for the boom/bust prospects, save those selection types for the dispersal draft.
