Sad news regarding the passing of Wade Belak... RIP.
The Bruins said yesterday that Marc Savard is still suffering post-concussion syndrome and they don't expect him to play this season. They also said it's unlikely that he can ever play again. Scary stuff and hopefully he does the right thing and forgets about attempting another comeback.
The CBJs gave Fedor Tyutin a six-year extension yesterday. I like him cause he's durable (missed just four games over the past four seasons) and think he was a little unlucky last year with his lowest numbers of his three seasons in Columbus. So he could see a rebound this year, especially with an improved team around him but it could be tough with Wisniewski & Clitsome likely taking up the key PP minutes.
Always interesting stuff from the Panthers as they said they're not giving unsigned RFA Shawn Matthias a one-way deal (even though he's played 126 NHL games) and that Dmitry Kulikov's roster spot is not guaranteed. [via George Richards] I've significantly soured on Matthias after three poor pro seasons but Kulikov is my top dman breakout pick in the Breakout Bible so I'm not hearing this. I don't see any way that he's not in their opening night lineup though, so this is just the team blowin smoke.
Daymond Langkow passed his physical with the Coyotes, so the trade is official. Heard an interview with GM Don Maloney the other day and he said the team had a hole at the #1C spot and they went out and targeted Langkow. Bad news for those of us that hoped Kyle Turris would be asked to fill that role.
Pascal Leclaire is looking for work but says his recovery from March hip surgery has him at less than 80% right now. He did reveal that a team made him an offer in July but he failed the physical. Leclaire is fragile at the best of times so I doubt anyone will be taking a chance on him until he's completely healthy, which sounds like it could be a while. Please avoid.
