Sunday's Daily Dosage - Stamkos, Bieksa, WJCs...
Hat-Trick last night for Steven Stamkos to add to his league leading 26 goals on the season. Just 11 of his 43 points this year have come on the PP, so he's earning his production the hard way and it's probably safe to assume that he's due for some more breaks with the man advantage.
Steve Downie has been back with his buddy Stamkos lately and has 2+5=7 & plus-5 over his last three games. He had been buried on the 3rd line to start the season.
I wasn't fully aware of this... Kevin Bieksa with a goal last night to extend his point streak to six games (1+6=7 & 11 PIMs). Turn back the clock to Nov 10th when he was sitting at 0+3=3 & minus-9 through his first 16 games. Over his last 23 games he has 4+15=19 & plus-16. Perhaps you can get him at a slight discount if his owner doesn't realize that he's turned his season around 180 degrees.
Two goals last night for Alex Ovechkin... so that's points in six straight (6+3=9, plus-5 & 26 shots). He's got a ways to go before I can say that all you people that traded him were crazy but I'm drafting a speech.
At the WJCs yesterday... Another Wings prospect shined as Tomas Jurco had four assists to vault Slovakia into the medal round. Max Friberg (ANA) & Mark Stone (OTT) both scored and remain tied for the tourney lead at seven goals. The Swedes caught the Russians napping and came from three goals down to win in OT and take 1st place in Pool A.
Mathieu Garon has won three straight and is 5-1-1 over his last seven.
Did you know?... P.A. Parenteau is on pace for 73 points this season? Well consider yourself enlightened. He has 3+5=8 over his last six games.
Matt Moulson's numbers are all over the place... he had three points last night but despite being on pace for 39 goals, he has just three in his last 11 games.
Tomas Vokoun has won three straight after a 35/37 performance to beat the mighty BJs last night. In fact, he's kept it to two goals or less in seven of his last nine appearances.
Giant YIKES for Jonas Hiller as he gave up four goals on 26 shots in a loss to the Avs and his numbers slipped to 9-16-6, 3.18 & .897 on the season. He has given up 4+ goals in nine of his last 15 games, so he's not a safe start. I've said this many times... vertigo has really messed him up.
Goals in three straight games for Bobby Ryan, so those of us that took him in the 1st round can stop swearing every time someone speaks his name (for now).
Trevor Daley with 1+2=3 last night and while you shouldn't expect much from him, he does have 3+6=9 over his last 10 games. With Souray & Robidas out he's picked up some more PP duties lately.
GWG for Blake Wheeler last night to extend his point streak to five games (3+4=7). He has 6+15=21 over his last 20 games.
Not a terrible night for James Reimer but three goals on 35 shots was good enough for another loss and he's 3-4-3, 3.23 & .895 since returning from his concussion on December 3rd.
Jonathan Quick stopped 27 of 28 to beat the high-flying Canucks and he's benefiting from Darryl Sutter's lockdown style as he's 5-0-1, 1.44 & .951 over his last six games.
T.J. Brennan & David Savard got the NYE callup from the AHL whereas Sean Avery spent the night in Hartford.

Good to see Winnipeg and Ottawa jumping into the playoff picture. But it was at the cost of the leafs falling to 10th.( Is DIO ok? jk. ) Looks like it will be an exciting race to the finish line the rest of the season.
would be real interesting to see FLA, Winnipeg & Ottawa all in the East playoffs.

Flash and Vrbata with 2 goals a piece last night
Both of them were trending cold, so that was good to see.
Zach Bogosian had a PP goal last night and while his offensive stats are pedestrian (3g 13a -2), his 6 hits last night brought him to 74 on the year and his 47 pims and 59 blocked shots are on par or better than studs Chara and Weber.
Oh, and Justin Williams had a PP goal and an assist on 7 shots and seems to be showing signs of life under Sutter (1g 4a in his last 4 games)
Pavelec with another win last night and for the last 30 days he’s got 6 wins and 2.14 gaa and .932 Save % but I still don’t trust him enough to start in a weekly league. (owning Rinne and Kipper is probably a factor though)
It's not that I don't like people, I'm just happier when they're not around - Hank Chinaski
Yes, afraid this could just be a hot streak for Pavelec… but let’s hope he can keep it up.
True dat on Bogosian, once you add in Hits & blks then he becomes pretty valuable. The ice-time is solid & he tends to get a boost when either Enstrom or Byfuglien are out.
