Tuesday's Daily Dosage - Clemmensen, Johansson, Dekanich...
Scott Clemmensen stopped 25 of 26 to beat the mighty Canucks last night. His numbers are nothing special (2.78 & .904) but he has now only lost once in regulation in 11 games this year (5-1-3). With Theodore & Markstrom hurt, it's his net for a while, let's see what he can do with it.
Marcus Johansson with a pair of goals and he's been coming on lately with 3+3=6 over his last six games and 3+8=11 over his last 15 games. He's at a 50 point pace right now.
Scott Arniel was gassed by the CBJs yesterday... he should feel fortunate that he lasted this long. There were no real redeeming qualities about his team this season as they were bad both offensively & defensively (27th in the league in both). Todd Richards takes over on an interim basis and from his time in Minnesota, we learned that he's not likely to improve the offence much but they should be able to improve a little defensively. Not sure if Richards will lean on Steve Mason or go in another direction in goal. Also hoping this means Derick Brassard can be freed from the doghouse and Ryan Johansen can play more than 12:57 a night.
On a related note, Mark Dekanich made his first AHL start of the year over the weekend after dealing with ankle & groin injuries. Not sure what the plan is but a lot of us are hoping that he'll get a shot in the CBJs net and has the stuff to steal some starts.
Yank-city for Tomas Vokoun last night after four goals on 27 shots in LA. The west coast has not been kind to him as San Jose beat him four times on Saturday.
Jonathan Bernier with a rare win last night as he stopped 20 of 22 to pick up his first W since Nov 22nd. Unfortunately, he usually has to wait about two weeks for his next start. Can the Kings please trade this guy already?
The jinx is broken as Dmitry Kulikov scored last night, his first point in 14 games. He's still on pace for 40 points.
Those expecting a return to earth for Jason Garrison have had your wish granted as he has just 3+2=5 over his last 21 games.
Marcel Goc with two points last night, including the GWG, and he has 2+2=4 in the three games since returning from a concussion... enjoy it while it last, cause it won't.
Five game suspension for Brad Marchand, that's tough cause he's having a killer season but seems fair for his dangerous hit.
The Oilers are bringing Magnus Paajarvi back up to the big leagues after 1+8=9 in his last seven games in OKC and Gilbert Brule is tagging along, assuming he clears waivers. Let's hope MPS has his confidence back, cause I'm still a believer.
The Islanders are swapping back-up goalies, sending Anders Nilsson down and promoting Kevin Poulin, since he's like the hottest thing going with three straight shutouts last week.
Other AHL call-ups: Ben Smith, Kyle Cumiskey & Eric Tangradi.
AHL demotions: Marco Scandella & Gustav Nyquist.

maybe I am clairvoyant
last Sunday I was looking at a light Monday schedule.
in need of PIM & Hits, I picked up Mike Rupp who had 1 goal to that point, hoping for some pugilistic spark.
we all recall the Jagr salute
this past Sunday I was once again looking for some PIM’s & Hits to insert into a light Monday
Dale Weise I thought about, but saw he had a fight on Saturday in Boston.
He scored the only goal for the potent Canucks
I went with…….
Kyle Clifford 1 goal before yesterday not quite Rupper,
a goal, assist, plus-2
if I were clairvoyant though wouldn’t I be able to find the five for fighting?

Hope you are right on MPS
picked him back up as soon as I saw Eberle go down, in anticipation of the call.
still worried though, with only 1 goal in 10 AHL games
also picked up Kyle Palmieri after dropping Clifford, do you think there is anything there?

Palmieri has looked great in the A, so definitely worth speculating on & hoping you hit oil.

palmieri
I’m a ducks fan and palmieri and fellow young ducks forwards personally don’t show any promise besides smithpelly and maybe holland. But then again I also thought we would go far in the playoffs this year too.

Smith-Pelly
would have been ideal in my league as he is a physical presence which is what I lack
but it won’t be this year he broke something right?

3 out of 4
first time I have had issue all year
3 spots 4 starters tonight
Rask – Boston vs Winnipeg
Harding – Minnesota vs San Jose
Anderson – Ottawa @ Pittsburgh
Schneider – Vancouver @ Tampa Bay
ordinarily I would go with the 2 at home
Rask is easy,
I don’t have much hope of a Minnesota win vs San Jose.
Anderson at a beat up Pittsburgh seems an easy call
Vancouver should handle Tampa but I watched vs Florida last night and it wasn’t very inspiring
So with Rask as 1 start who are the other 2
by MasterOfPuppets on Jan 10, 2012 3:28 PM EST reply actions
I would go with Rask, Harding and Schneider, because I don’t trust Anderson… and I would like to think the Pens can beat them
leaning jays way
the way I see it
the only way Pens win is in a 1-0, 2-1 type game where MAF stands on his head
no way do the Sen’s allow Malkin any freedom to do anything
so it follows that even should Ottawa lose Anderson’s peripherals should still be good.
this is also the only way I see the Wild winning.
on the flipside San Jose could run roughshod over the Wild and blow up Harding’s peripherals
Schneider is in a similar situation against a sometimes productive offense
I trust Vancouver’s defense through high octane offense more than Minnesota’s defensive defense.

Oops. I’d go with Rask, Schneider and Anderson. Pittsburgh is depleted and Andy has been hot.
