Wednesday's Daily Dosage - Glencross, Gustavsson, D. Boyle, Henrique

Oh what a night for Curtis Glencross. 1+3=4, plus-2, and 2 PIM and I'm officially a believer. He should be owned in much more than the 34% of leagues (Yahoo!) that he currently is.

Great night for John Tavares as he extends his point streak to six games with 1+2=3 and a plus-3. He's now got 3+9=12 over that streak and he's at just about a point per game with 39 in 40.

Matt Moulson had 2+1=3 last night and those two goals give him 20 on the season. With 20 goals in 40 games, he looks like a sure bet to hit 30 goals for the third straight season. That consistency really impresses me.

Mark Streit with the hat trick of assists and it was the first time he had an even strength point in 24 games. Hard to believe but it's true. He's on pace for 45 points which would be somewhat disappointing depending on what you were expecting, but I'd bet he gets better in the second half.

Adam Henrique continues to impress. He was 1+1=2 for the third consecutive game. It was also the third consecutive game with a shorthanded point as he scored another SHG. He was even feeling saucy as he dropped the gloves with Iginla after he laid Iggy out. Not sure it should have counted as a fight for him because he didn't throw a punch and only hugged but we'll take it!

Speaking of him, Jarome Iginla was 1+2=3, plus-1, 7 PIM, 1 hit, 1 block so he was feeling it last night as well.

Star-divide

Dan Boyle with his second straight three point game as he put up 1+2=3 including 5 shots, a PPG, and plus-3. He may finally be feeling better out there now. He's shooting the puck a lot more with 35 shots over his last 7 games.

Patrick Marleau is still on fire after 1+1=2 last night he has 3+6=9 during a six game point streak.

Jonas Gustavsson responded to his FHS Three Star snub by posting another shutout. He made 32 saves so give him credit but he did face a lineup in the Sabres that is really depleted with injuries (Roy, Ennis, Vanek).

Cal Clutterbuck snapped a 5-game point-less streak with a pretty stat line last night: 1+1=2, 2 PIM, plus-2, 4 SOG, 1 hit.

Saku Koivu turned the trick last night so that's two straight three point games for him. He's officially worth a pickup now, though, I suspect this won't last.

Teemu Selanne with two assists last night to put him over the 40 point mark. He's got 41 in 41. I hope all of you in those one year leagues were smart and drafted him.

Viktor Stalberg had gone six straight games without a point. He was also a minus player in all six of those games, totaling minus-9 so his hat trick last night was a welcome site for his owners.

Colin Greening with three primary helpers and he's liking playing with Spezza and Michalek.

David Krejci with two assists extends his point streak to nine games with 5+9=14 over that span. I hope none of you got hasty and dropped this guy after a slow start as he's a pretty consistent point producer

Four game point streak for Patrice Bergeron as he chipped in two apples. He's 4+4=8 with plus-7 for the streak.

Another four game point streak as Alex Pietrangelo chipped in an assist and he's got 1+6=7 over that span.

Jaroslav Halak returned to Montreal and served them up a helping of zero stopping all 19 shots he saw. I feel like there's not going to be a clear cut winner to the Halak-Elliott battle. Just be happy if you own either one of these guys.

Two assists for Tobias Enstrom gives him 0+8=8 since his return from injury.

Another impressive game for Sergei Bobrovsky as he stopped 35 of 36 shots to get the win in Carolina. His numbers are a hell of a lot better than Ilya Bryzgalov's, so he could help your team in the short term. I still think Bryz will start more games down the stretch, though.

Steven Stamkos scored a goal and added an assist. He's starting to distance himself in the race for the Richard trophy with 29 through 41 games.

Nikolai Kulemin with a goal and an assist and this is his first multi-point effort in 31 games. We'll see if he can build on this as he's looked a lot more like the 08-09 and 09-10 version of himself this season.

Ryan Ellis with his second straight game with a goal and an assist. He played just over 12 minutes so here's hoping he earns more. He'll be playing on the PP no matter what.

Sent down: Jacob Josefson and Tim Sestito

A little surprised

no mention of some pretty fierce goaltending in the Rangers vs Coyotes game
Mike Smith had the highlight save of the night on a Marian Gaborik penalty shot.
But Gabby got the last laugh in the shootout.
You think Gabby was a little steamed about the save?

It was his own fault. He just needed to lift it a little. I thought it was a great save, but not as great as Sam and Joe (MSG) were making it out to be. You have to instinctively lift the shot there. But you’re right, Gabby got him in the end.

There were a lot of games last night and I was on the fence about whether or not Mike Smith’s SOL was worthy of a mention even though he did play great.

Gabby’s fault? he had Smith going east while he was heading west.
He had a split second after he deked Smith out of his shorts
It was amazing that he got into any position to save that shot
whether he made contact with the puck or the puck made contact with the stick is besides the point.
The point was that Smith was where he shouldn’t have been.

Jay it was athleticism not luck and you both have been watching too many slow motion highlights if you don’t recognize that both guys made amazing moves on that play, at a high rate of speed.

Agree with Mike. The save by Smith (although pretty) was more luck than anything. It was a flub by Gsbby more than anything.
