Thursday's Daily Dosage - Shaw, Mueller, Beauchemin...
The Hawks are rolling so most guys in their lineup are doing well but two rookies are big surprises as Andrew Shaw scored in his fourth straight game last night and Jimmy Hayes has 2+3=5 over his last four games. Shaw has been playing on L2 and joining Toews & Kane on PP1 lately whereas Hayes has been teaming up with the white hot Dave Bolland (6+3=9 in his last six) on L3. Give these guys a look but don't get carried away.
Pat on the back if you saw this coming... in his first start in 11 games, Michal Neuvirth recorded a 31 save shutout over the Habs. He came into the game with a 3.23 gaa & .886 sv%, so if you're like me, he's growing roots on your bench and I didn't activate him last night.
Pat on the back if you saw this coming part deux... Peter Mueller had 2+1=3 in his fourth game back since recovering from his latest concussion. Those were his first points of the season in his seventh game.
I laughed Jay off earlier this week when he suggested we pick Francois Beauchemin up... well who is laughing now??? 2+1=3 & plus-3 last night and he has a pretty boffo 2+5=7, plus-8 & 21 PIMs over his last six games.
Jonathan Toews with a pair of PPGs last night and he has four goals in his last three games to move into sole possession of 2nd place in the goals race. Not bad for a guy who has topped out at 34 over his first four seasons. The great ones are always finding ways to improve their game.
Jean-Sebastien Giguere with another winning outing last night as he stopped 26 of 29 and he's been pretty consistent lately going 7-2-1, 2.25 & .923 over his last 10 games.
I'm still not sure where this is coming from and if it's just a mirage but Ryan O`Reilly had another two points to give him 3+3=6 & 15 shots over his last five games.
Marcus Johansson used his speed on a nice goal last night and while that was his only shot in his last five games, he now has 3+5=8 over his last nine games.
Jason Blake with another two points and he has 4+2=6 & 15 shots over his last three games. He's doing all this while lining up on the L3 with Cogliano & Bonino.
Brian Elliott was given a two-year contract extension by the Blues, congrats to him. Good new for Elliott owners as he's obviously comfortable in St.Loo and playing for Hitchcock is a good gig but bad if you were hoping he'd find himself a #1 job in the offseason.
Very minor trade here as FLA have shipped Evgeni Dadonov & something named A.J. Jenks to the Hurricanes for Jon Matsumoto & Mattias Lindstrom. I'm sorry that I even wasted your time with all that. Dadonov has a little bit of upside but he has a long way to go before he should be on most fantasy radars.
The Avs have waived Brandon Yip, between injuries & scratchings, he's only appeared in 10 games this year (no points).
The latest to get the call from the AHL is Zac Dalpe & Chris Tanev.

Andrew Shaw and Jimmy Hayes…. Give these guys a look but don’t get carried away.
after picking up Hayes last week hoping for hits I watched Shaw going nuts so grabbed him as well.
been sweet so far.
nice of Quenneville to find room on the PP for both as well.
how will I know when the ride is over?

Well done again. It’s likely over already but ride it out a few more games and then it will be clear that it’s over.

Yip claimed by NSH.
Get ’em back in your lineup boys… I kid.

Cam never listens to me. .
Actually I don’t even remember suggesting Beauchemin.
I do remember suggesting Jussi Jokinen and Cal Clutterbuck. So not all my picks are blowing up this week

brutality, last overall. Pretty much all of our players had a shit start (Iginla, Zetterberg, Nash, Havlat, Burns, Leino, etc) and/or has been injured (Duchene, Visnovsky, Wisniewski) and it’s a league that you can’t find much on the wire to help you out, so we folded up the tent a while ago… very frustrating.
