Saturday's Daily Dosage - Jeffrey, Cole, Ponikarovsky...

Stay connected for news and updates

I'm guessing by the look on his face that Carey Price didn't start Jeffrey in his fantasy league last night either

Dustin Jeffrey with his best game of the season last night with 2+1=3 & plus-3 with four shots. The fine print is that these were his first points of the season in his 12th game. He's still working his way back from serious knee surgery but keep his name in mind as there is some upside here.

Cam Ward picked up the goose egg stopping all 23 shots the Caps fired his way. He's been pretty hot lately as he's allowed two or less goals over his last seven starts. The hot streak pulled his gaa under 3.00 and his sv% over .900... welcome to respectability, Wardo.

Erik Cole put up the nice line of 1+1=2, four PIMs, two shots and two hits last night. He's on pace for his best season since 2007-08 as he could crack 60 points and 250 shots. Andrei Kostitsyn also had 1+1=2 but, unlike Cole, he stinks. He's only on pace for a paltry 38 points.

The Devils acquired Alexei Ponikarovsky from Carolina for a 4th. He's been pretty useless for three different teams over the past three seasons since leaving the Leafs. I wouldn't expect much from him fantasy-wise with the Devils as he'll probably be used in more of a grinding big-body-presence type role.

Eric Staal picked up two assists last night and guess what? he's been pretty great lately... 16 points in his last 11 games. It's been a long time coming for you Staal owners.

Another disappointing Cane had a big game as Jussi Jokinen picked up two goals. He has 65 and 52 points the last two years but is still on pace for just 46 this year. He has points in three straight now so maybe he's about to go on a roll.

Kris Letang played his second game since returning from his concussion injury and needless to say he's not rusty at all. He picked up 1+1=2 yesterday and now has 22 points in 24 games. He's one of the best fantasy d-men out there.

Max Pacioretty was stuffing the stat-sheet with a goal, seven PIMs & five shots last night... I'll take second helpings of all that all day.

Teddy Purcell with two goals on seven shots last night and despite being pretty brutal this season, he's starting to heat up with 4+1=5 over his last five games.

I wouldn't get too excited but Mathieu Garon racked up his second straight win with 28 saves on 29 shots against Dallas last night.

Nick Leddy has an assist in four straight games now. He's been hot & cold this year and doesn't offer much in the way of peripherals but he is on pace for 40+ points (mostly assists).

The Ducks gave Francois Beauchemin a 3-year contract extension yesterday... talk about buying at a high-point. He's had 39% of his point production in the last 13% of his games.

Lots of movement on the AHL shuttle... Stephane Da Costa (up), Maxim Goncharov (up), Casey Wellman (down), Nate Prosser (up), Michal Repik (down), David Savard (down), Paul Postma (down) & Mark Bell (up).

Two of note from that list are Da Costa, who gets the call after 7+3=10 in his last 10 games for Bingo, and Mark Bell, who returns to the NHL with Anaheim after a four-year exile.
