Trade Halak for Fleury
Would you trade J. Halak for M-A Fleury?
Categories are W, L, GAA, SV %, Saves and Shutouts
It is a keeper league and I could keep Halak next year for a 6th round pick and the year following for a 5th. Fleury can be kept for 1 more season which will cost a 2nd round pick.
Halak is on fire right now and he could end up being a stud for the next couple years, but I guess there is also the chance that he has an off game or 2 and Elliott again starts stealing starts, whereas M-A is the clear #1 in Pittsburgh.
I'll hang up and listen. Thanks in advance!

hang up and listen.
that’s good.
it’s a REALLY tough call.
i’d favor Fleury, primarily for the reason you stated — he’s PIT’s horse — whereas STL could always switch to Elliott
but the draft picks muddy things further
i don’t see a clear answer on this one
sorry ’bout that.

1) do you have a chance to win with Halak getting 60-70% of the starts this year
or do you need 95% of starts from Fleury
2) can you see using a 2nd rd pick on a goalie that isn’t Lundqvist?
I never draft goalies early too much of a crapshoot see R Miller, I. Bryzgalov
I like my gambles in lower rounds
of course if your skater stats and goalie stats are equal or weighted toward goalies that would change I wouldn’t be in that league.
I just looked at your stats provided and I wouldn’t play in a league with those categories so I can’t advise
still the 2 questions apply.

If you want to win this year hang onto Fleury.
If you are out of the running take Halak (although you might be able to get an even better keeper.

agree with Jay, if your focus is this season then stick with Fleury but if you’re looking to the future then I like the keeper potential of Halak more.

unless I read it wrong
sounds like he has Halak and wants to trade for Flowers

you’re probably right, I think I read it wrong.

Correct…I’d give up Halak.
I am trying to get Tavares as part of the deal so I’d get a good keeper (he’d be a 4th next year). He wants Stamkos. Does this seem too rich?
I get:
Fleury (2nd next year)
Tavares (4th)
I give up:
Stamkos (can’t be kept)
Halak (6th)
If your focus is the future then I’d do this for sure.
If you’re still in the hunt for this season then I’d think about it a little longer… actually, I think I’d do it as well. Fleury hasn’t been great but he’s steady, durable and will rack up wins.

Yeah I like that deal a lot as well.
You get the better goalie and a stud in the making.
You can argue you’ll be better off this year as well if Halak starts playing 50% of the games.

I think a move for Elliott if indeed you have Halak might be something to check on as well.
His owner may well be in a worse panic for the loss of starts and he should be cheaper as Halak has the upper hand for the moment.
Blues goalies will be golden as long as Hitch is able to run the talent St. Louis has out there.

Trade is done…here’s the deal:
I get:
Fleury (2nd next year)
Tavares (4th)
Kopitar (1st — doubt I’ll keep him)
I give up:
Stamkos (can’t be kept)
Halak (6th)
Getzlaf (2nd)
How’d I do?
good for now and good for the future… a win-win but just for you.
