Tuesday's Daily Dosage - Fisher, Gustavsson, Petry...
The dynamic duo of Mike Fisher & Martin Erat strikes again!!! (there is a great animal joke in there somewhere) Fisher scored twice and has 4+7=11 over his last nine and Erat set up two goals and has 3+9=12 over the same nine games.
Pekka Rinne stopped 25 of 26 for another win and he hasn't allowed more than two goals in any of his last eight games... and in what has to be a total coincidence, he has won his last eight games as well.
Jonas Gustavsson has started nine of the last 10 for the Leafs and has six wins & three shutouts during that stretch after a 25 save shutout of the red-hot Islanders (that just sounded wrong) last night. Here are the digits, 6-3-0, 1.79, .934 & three shutouts over his last nine.
Jeff Petry has played 23+ minutes (in all situations) in each of his last five games and has put together a modest little run with 4A over those five games.
29 of 30 in a win over the Jets for Cam Ward and he has been very solidified lately going 5-2-2, 1.54 & .953 over his last nine games. Good for you if you hung in through the dark days of December.
No points last night but the Blues David Backes, Alex Pietrangelo & Chris Stewart all accumulated some pretty hefty PIM totals last night.
Kudos if you had a hunch about Kyle Clifford last night as he had the Gordie Howe Hat-Trick and the GWG, plus-2 & three shots as a bonus. That was just goal three on the season for him, so don't be thinking that he's about to go on a hot streak.
Matthew Lombardi has a grand total of six goals on the season but four of them have come over his last four games. Pucks are bound to go in when you put 17 shots on goal in those four games.
A goal last night for Kyle Wellwood extended his point streak to five games (1+6=7).
Ryan Johansen was a healthy scratch last night for the CBJs.
The Stars gave Alex Goligoski a four-year extension yesterday... let's just say that I'd swap paycheques with him.
Alex Ovechkin is out for the next three after being suspended. Some have suggested that this was planned so he could get out of going to Kanata for the All-Star Game... conspiracy!
Heading back to the AHL are Kyle Palmieri & Chris Tanev.

Reimer
At what point do I give up on the Decepticon that is becoming Optimus Reim?

Reason I ask
…is because I have a bit of a logjam in the G position in a keeper league: Gustavsson, Reimer, Luongo, Lehtonen and Bachman. Reimer is a keeper from last year so I feel like I need to vet the cut a little more carefully than, say, Bachman. Is he worth holding on to or not?

I would hold as long as humanly possible as I don’t think Gustavsson is in the clear. He’ll come back down to earth in a bit and Reimer will get a shot, just hope he takes advantage. Reimer should still be the guy here long-term. Does put you in a tough spot though as Bachman is a good one as well.

problem with Bachman besides the fact that he is the clear backup to Lehtonen, is the Stars while they try really hard have very little talent.
You should explore a deal with the Lehtonen owner due to his frequent injury issues and hang onto Reimer
Like Cam said The Monster is not seen as a long term solution and I think Optimus will eventually get his timing back
He is not the first to struggle to regain form after a concussion, even though most fantasy GM’s and fans are knee-jerk-over-re-actionists in such things, the guys making the big bucks know better. (he said hopefully)
