Wednesday's Daily Dosage - Lupul, Ryder, WJC...

I had been advising that you sell high on Joffrey Lupul for a while... well I hope you either sold really high or completely ignored what I said cause he just keeps scoring. Four points last night and points in 18 of his last 21 games (9+16=25). In addition, he's shown no sign of breaking down physically.

Michael Ryder is right up there with Chris Higgins on the list of guys I don't care for but have to give it up to him as after 2+1=3 last night, he now has 8+4=12 in his last nine games.

Alex Ovechkin with another 2-pointer to give him four straight of those and 7+4=11 during a seven game point streak.

At the WJCs yesterday... it was a rollercoaster ride as the Swedes mounted another 3rd period comeback and won in the shootout with Max Friberg recording his tourney leading eighth goal in regulation and getting credit for his 9th on the shootout winner. The Canada-Russia game was even more bananas as the hosts spotted Russia a 6-1 lead on the back of a hat-trick by Evgeny Kuznetsov but then stormed back with four goals in the 3rd to make it respectable (6-5).

Dion Phaneuf had a nice line with 1+1=2, plus-1, two PIMs & nine shots last night... he has 2+5=7 & 25 shots over his last six games.

Another pair of assists last night for David Perron to give him 2+11=13 in the 14 games since his return.

Good game for Sam Gagner last night with 1+1=2 & five shots as he joined Hall & Hemsky on the top line. He now has 2+3=5 over his last five games... our friend MasterofPuppets will be happy.

I dropped Radim Vrbata recently in a shallow league after five games with nothing... so figures he now has three goals & nine shots over his last two games.

Tomas Vokoun with four straight wins for the Caps and he's given up a total of five goals in the victory streak.

3A last night for John Tavares and he has 2+5=7 during a three game point streak, so everyone that was worried that he wasn't going to have a big season can simmer down.

I've been recommending Steve Downie lately for his points but games like last night are a sweet byproduct as he dropped 20 PIMs.

Three straight wins for Evgeni Nabokov after stopping 37 of 40 last night... the opposition was only CAR, EDM & CGY but this is the Islanders and we all know they'll take whatever they can get.

Mixed signals from Brayden McNabb as his ice-time dipped to 19:51 last night (no PP time) but he added two assists and has 1+3=4 over his last five games. I'd keep a close eye on him.

Brian Burke must have been bored so he called up his old buddy Bob Murray and swung a minor-league deal... Luca Caputi to the Ducks for Nicolas Deschamps. Both guys have showed some promise during their career but both are having brutal years in the AHL, so their fantasy upside is not looking very promising.

I hadn't noticed this... David Rundblad has been a healthy scratch in eight of nine games since the trade to PHX, goddam Dave Tippett.

Earning a demotion to the AHL: Jordan Caron & Curtis McElhinney.
