Monday's Injury Updates - Carter, Sharp, Neal...

It's been a career (injury) year for Jeff Carter, his latest feat was separating his shoulder last night. We should know more about the severity today but given his luck, expect him to be out a while. More ice-time for Ryan Johansen, perhaps?

Patrick Sharp left last night's game with a UBI, he'll be re-evaluated today, keep your fingers crossed.

Not what the Penguins needed... James Neal is out "for weeks" with a broken foot.

Not what the Penguins needed, part deux... Jordan Staal is out 4-6 weeks with torn knee ligaments. Can we start to call this guy "fragile"?

Jonas Hiller left last night's game with a LBI, Coach Bruce said it was just a day-to-day thing but he'll be re-evaluated today. Dan Ellis (groin) is already on the shelf for a month, so wild times in the Ducks net right now.

No playing on Saturday and no practicing on Sunday for Nicklas Backstrom... this has me concerned.

Sami Salo has a concussion after falling over Marchand on Saturday... he's out indefinitely, likely longer.

Jacob Markstrom tweaked his knee in practice yesterday, so we'll likely see Scott Clemmensen in a couple of games.

David Booth (knee) has been practicing with the team and has now been cleared to return to the lineup.

Returning to action from the injured list yesterday: Jaromir Jagr & Tomas Holmstrom.

Jordan Staal

Not fragile. That was a knee on knee from a massive (6’5") Mike Rupp.
But, I think he’s done for the year. Penguins suck about releasing accurate information.

If he’s not fragile then we have to say that he’s got shit luck as picked up quite a few random injuries over the past two years.

I agree about Staal, definitely not fragile. He’s had a run of bad luck that past couple of seasons but he’s always been the iron man.

My 2 big guns on my roster have just gone down, Neal and Sharp, not a good weekend for yours truly. Anybody know who will be playing on Malkin’s line in the mean time? Sullivan? Dupuis?

my guess is Kunitz (same as before) and Sullivan, although it could be something more random, like Tangradi — to try to maintain some semblance of a scoring threat on a 2nd and/or 3rd line.

They may have no choice but to bring back Rob Brown & Phil Bourque.
