Rankings need some work

How can you rationalize having Campbell below Shattenkirk and even Doughty with his current off year. Burns @ 14, guy doesn’t even belong on this list anymore. Neither does Giordano with his injury and shit performance pre injury.

well, the rankings take into account past performance and current opportunities (the basis for the pre-season rankings) the 2011-12 YTD rankings, performance rankings over the prior 30 days, and other factors like injuries.

Burns had 46 pts last year on a weaker team. He also put up 98 PIMs. He was ranked 26th as of the date this was posted. I think he’ll regress (upward) closer to his #s from last season and therefore makes a good buy low/2nd half success candidate. Similar thinking for Doughty.

Shattenkirk is currently ranked 15th, and has been wicked hot on a surging St. Louis team.

Giordano is saying he could be back very soon. There is obvious risk with him, but as a #1 D-man he represents significant upside.

Soup

Forgot about Campbell…
His actual performance over the past 30 days ranked him 27th among D-men.
I ranked him 20th—ie, still higher than his actual performance over the last month.

At the halfway mark, he’s “on pace” for 66 points.
That’s more than his past 2 seasons—combined.

There are signs that he is slowing down.
As MB has noted (re-stated by truculence below), the NHL appears to have figured out the Panthers.
And his #s over the past 30 days bear that out.

i like the list

many changes since last month
i would have Burns a bit lower, but Campbell and the Cats have tailed off considerably. as Michael B said, “The NHL has figured them out.”

Just to Hard

all these lists look completely wrong to me.

then I remember disney leagues use the amount of time spent on the ice (a ridiculous fantasy cat) so I guess a lot of these guys that I find completely useless, yeah, talking to you EJ and JJ, have their place over there.

way to go you talking stat heads
