Friday's Daily Dosage - Pacioretty, Spezza, Hartnell, Kessel...
It was Max Pacioretty's night as he scored the hat trick on all even strength goals and 10 shots. I was complaining about him a month ago when the Canadiens scored 7 goals and he didn't factor in on any. Since that game he's got 11+4=15 in 15 games so thanks to everyone who talked me off the ledge in the comments. He's on pace for 35 goals which would have put him at 8th in the NHL last season.
Alexander Semin with a PPG and PPA last night and he's somehow gone under the radar and been productive. Over his last 23 games he has 9+13=22, 5 PPP and a +14. I like him down the stretch so if his owners are still sour on him, you still might be able to buy low.
Not to be outdone by his countryman and teammate, Alex Ovechkin also had a PPG and PPA and that gives him two points in two consecutive games.
From the same game, Dustin Byfuglien is another guy who put up a PPG and PPA. That was his first goal since December 9 (he missed some of December and all of January with an injury).
I haven't heard much talk about Dennis Wideman this season but I've got to give him his props. He had two PPA last night to bring his season totals to 10+28=38 in 54 games. He only trails Erik Karlsson in the scoring race for defensemen and his 18 PPP is good for third in the league amongst defensemen. He's always been known to by a turnover machine but at plus-1 on the season (he's minus-30 for his career), he's even improved that part of his game. I drafted this guy in the 11th round in one of my leagues so it's not like this was expected. Kudos to him.
Jason Spezza with 2+1=3 last night including a PPG as he looks to shake off a streak of six games with zero points and a minus-3.
Scott Hartnell with the fantasy line of the night as he had 1+1=2, 7 PIM, plus-2 and 2 shots.
Phil Kessel with 2 apples and he is sizzling with 4+5=9 and a plus-8 during a 4 game point streak. He's got the beautiful stat line of 30 goals and 30 assists for the season.
Also on a 4 game point streak is Joffrey Lupul as he had 1+1=2 and has 2+4=6 and plus-5 for the streak.
Ilya Kovalchuk took a game off from putting up three points in a game on Tuesday night but we'll take the two assists he gave us last night.
Thank you, Kurtis Foster, for a PPA and 15 PIM. File this one in the "unexpected" cabinet.
Nice job to Brian Elliott as he came in to the game in relief of an ineffective Jaroslav Halak and stopped all 15 shots he saw. He took Halak off the hook and got himself the skills competition win.
Chris Stewart with 1+1=2 including his first goal in a month. At 11+11=22 his is very high on the list of disappointing seasons.
Alex Goligoski is still on fire with 1+1=2 and a plus-2. He's got 4+7=11 in his last 13 games including 4 PPP.
So the answer to the question Did Gomez Score Last Night is a resounding yes. He has no fantasy relevance but I had to mention that.
Steven Stamkos with a goal and an assists last night and he's riding a 5 game point streak with 4+4=8 and a healthy 22 SOG over that span.
Brad Richards with the dramatic winning goal in OT for the Rangers and maybe this is a jumping board for him. He's been dreadful with just 4 points in his last 13 games.
Martin Erat continues to be one of the hottest players in the league. He scored with 10 seconds left in the game and also had an assist to give him 2+4=6 and a plus-5 over a three game point streak.
Kevin Bieksa with an assist and 12 PIM. He has 1+3=4 and 14 PIM over a four game point streak.
Daniel Sedin with a goal on the powerplay and added assist last night. It's difficult to say that a guy is having a disappointing season when he's over a point per game but at 55 points in 53 games, his owners are left wanting more.
Maxim Lapierre with a goal and 20 PIM last night. That gives him 116 PIM on the season and marks the first time he's eclipsed the century mark. He's feeling extra feisty this season.
Five game point streak for Olli Jokinen as he scored the goal that sent the game to OT. He's got 5+3=8 for the streak. I guess that Big Mac is still paying dividends.
Mike Smith started for the fourth time in six days and made 23 stops on 24 shots last night. He won all four of those games. Not too many goalies will be getting as many starts as him down the stretch so take note.
Up from the AHL: Adam Pardy and Jeff Frazee.
Down to the AHL: Evan Oberg

Where's Tyler Bozac
so glad you asked, as he is currently on an extended scoring streak 4 goals and 3 assists over his last 4 games
his 2 goals last evening broke his career high 32 point mark giving him 12+22=34 in 46 games
not bad for the undrafted center, that absolutely no one thought (well anyone but me) would even replicate last seasons production much less surpass it.
Oh yeah, still 27 game left on the schedule.
Well Done Boz

Thanks, mop, I missed his streak.
Did you purposely spell his name wrong?

Thanks Mike!
Good point on Wideman, I haven’t been mentioning him too much and it caught me offguard that he was 2nd in scoring by dmen.
Also hadn’t realized that Semin’s been that productive lately.

D-Wide
I own Wideman and didn’t realize he was 2nd in scoring by D-men. Damn.
I’ve had him Top 25 in the Rankings most of this season. And Top 20 for the last 2-3 months. So, he’s not completely off the radar, however, I had been holding him back a bit b/c of Mike Green’s supposed, alleged, hoped for return (as well as problems in Washington generally, the quality of other D in the highest tier, etc.). But…if Green isn’t coming back any time soon (I’m not holding my breath), Wideman could represent some really good value ahead of the Trade Deadline.

Good one Mike. Amazing that someone actually dropped Semin earlier this year in a single season league I’m part of.
Before the season started, I traded Pacioretty to get Franzen in a keeper league. I’m beginning to regret it.
That’s a really interesting deal. Not like the mule hasn’t lit it up this season but into the future, it remains to be seen. It’s gotta be some amount of years before you actually regret it.
