Saturday's Daily Dosage - Burns, Couture, D. Jones, E. Staal
There are a bunch of early games again on this Saturday. Make sure you get your lineups done.
Did you get your picks in to jsuites for today's games? If not, go HERE, make your picks, and see how you match up against the best FHS has to offer.
Brent Burns with the trio of assists last night including two on the PP and he added 4 shots. That's four straight games with a PPP for him where he has 0+8=8, 5 PPP and 6 PIM. He's got to be a candidate to have much better post all-star break stats mostly because he just can't do a lot worse.
Logan Couture kept his point streak going with 2 PPA. He has 5+7=12 and 6 PPP for the streak. Keep flying, Logan.
One of Cam's Second Half Stinkers, Joe Thornton, is on a 5 game point scoring streak after a goal last night. He's put up 4+5=9 over that span.
Patrick Sharp with two assists last night and he's riding a 4 game point streak with 2+4=6 and 18 shots during his streak. No PPP during the span, however, he does have a SHG.
Thomas Vanek returned to the lineup and promptly joined the 20-goal club with a PPG. Hopefully this means he's healthy and feeling good.
Another member of the 20-goal club is Michael Ryder as he also scored a PPG last night. He hasn't made it to 20 since the 2008-2009 season.
Christian Ehrhoff is trying his best to shake the suck off of him. He had an assist last night to give him 1+3=4 and a plus-5 over his last 5 games.
Ryan Miller took the SOW last night. He's won 5 of his last 6 and the one he lost was actually a shutout. He has a .962 save% and 1.11 gaa during that span.
Joey MacDonald with two straight wins for the Red Wings after stopping 29 of 30 shots. He won it in the shootout. If you're a Howard owner, you should have picked this guy up already.
Zero points and a minus-1 last night for Bobby Ryan. He has just one goal and no assists over his last 7 games. I guess you can't quite drop him, but man is he a scrub.
David Jones with 2 apples last night and he's on a 3 game point streak with 3+3=6 and a plus-3.
Paul Stastny had 1+1=2 and he's also on a 3 game point streak with 1+4=5.
Eric Staal put up 1+1=2 and a plus-2 (!) in last night's game. He's 3+1=4 and a plus-5 over his last 4 games. That's something.
Egg on the face for Justin Faulk as he turned the puck over with 5 seconds left in the game and gave Ryan O'Reilly a breakaway OT goal. The kid can't be feeling too good about himself after that.
Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 39 saves and took the W last night. Is it safe to drop Semyon Varlamov in a non-keeper league yet?
Up: Dylan Olsen, Dalton Prout, Allen York, Dwight King, Jordan Nolan,
Down: Slava Voynov

Wow might be the first time I’ve this and not recognized a single name. Anyone worth a look?
David Jones pisses me off.
He gave me 3 good weeks to start the season then put himself in the dog house for 3 months (8 points over 32 games)
I finally had to drop him @ all star break and look at him now.

Not really. Unless you’re in a really deep league, then perhaps.

I know this is not something you would normally do but do I sit Rinne at Boston tonite because I have Nabby at home vs La and Elliott at home vs Col???
.
I actually picked all 3 to win today.
I must confess Rinne is the riskiest, Boston should be pissed, after losing 6-0 to Buffalo and they’ve had 3 days to think about it.

Would you start Mike Smith at home against the Hawks over Rinne?

this is a trick question, I think I went with Chicago to win but think it will be a low score
I also thought Nashville would win a low scoring game, but the potential for a blowout is greater in Boston.

Burns
I liked Burns a lot preseason, and although he hasn’t lived up to his Top 10 expectations, the dude is ranked 15th overall (in standard formats) at the deepest position in fantasy hockey. That’s pretty good.
And with the way he’s heating up—he was 9th last month, and he’s 1st over the last 2 weeks—he may yet finish in the Top 10.

It’s a good point but he’s tied for 22nd overall in points. On pace for 40 points which is decent, but most people had a lot higher hopes for him than that.
