Tuesday's Daily Dosage - E.Staal, Ward, Couture...

Stay connected for news and updates

2+1=3 (SHG & PPA), plus-3, two PIMs & six shots for Eric Staal and despite the gloomy perception of him due to his slow start, since Dec. 28th only Malkin, Tavares & Kovalchuk have more points than Staal's 9+15=24 in his last 19 games.

Another stretch drive win for my 2nd Half Star goalie, Cam Ward, and he is now 7-3-3, 1.83 & .944 over his last 14 games... not bad on a team that is 28th overall in the table.

Life is good for Logan Couture as he's been elevated to PP1 lately and has 5+9=14 (eight PPPs) over his last 10 games.

It wasn't a thing of beauty but they all count as Joe Pavelski had 2+2=4 last night, his first night with more than two points all season. He now has 5+7=12 & 38 shots over his last 10 games.

Another two points for David Desharnais and his breakout season continues with 4+5=9 over his last nine games. You'd probably find a large number of GMs that aren't aware that this guy is on his way to topping 60 points this season.

PPA, four PIMs and four shots (ignore the minus-2) for P.K. Subban last night. Put aside what you think of him personally and just take advantage of the healthy dose of peripherals as he's top 10 amongst dmen in PIMs & shots and will make a contribution in hits & blocks as well.

A goal on five shots last night for Tomas Plekanec and he is working hard to make me look good as I said he makes a good buy low candidate in keeper leagues... he has 2+4=6 over his last five games.

I'm debating whether this is even fantasy-worthy news... Andrei Kostitsyn (he of the 30+ goal potential but the sub-20 goal output) was benched for most of last night's game and finished with just 4:20 of ice-time. He has two goals in his last 22 games.

Mike Comrie has officially hung up the skates, we won't give him the start treatment as he never was one. He had a couple of 30 goal seasons but never really lived up to the hype.

Braden Holtby got the call from the AHL yesterday and was thrown right into the net last night... but that's where the feel good story ended as he gave up five goals on 35 shots in his season debut. He is still a bright young prospect but he'll head back to the AHL shortly and is likely there for the rest of the year, barring injuries.

The Wild have called up Marco Scandella.

Jacob Markstrom (knee) & Simon Despres (knee) have returned to health and were sent back to the AHL.
