Wednesday's Daily Dosage - Spezza, Thomas, Zidlicky
Huge night for Jason Spezza with 3+1=4, plus-3, two PIMs, four shots & nine FOWs. He has 5+5=10 during a four game point streak.
Not to be outdone by Spezza's heroics, Ilya Kovalchuk had 3+1=4 of his own to go along with a plus-2 & seven shots. Pick any stretch of games over the past three months and he'll have some nice numbers but I'm pretty fond of 6+10=16 & 31 shots over his last eight games.
Goalies were in lockdown mode last night as Henrik Lundqvist & Craig Anderson pitched shutouts and Martin Brodeur, Steve Mason, Joey MacDonald, Jonas Hiller, Evgeni Nabokov & Miikka Kiprusoff each allowed just one goal in their respective victories. Kiprusoff is now 9-3-2, 1.68 & .943 over his last 14 games and hasn't allowed more than three goals in any game during that stretch. MacDonald has now won four on the trot but his dream sequence is likely in it's final stages as Howard should return soon.
Not so hot between the pipes was Tim Thomas as he gave up three goals on 20 shots in a loss to the Rangers. He is a very pedestrian 7-6-0, 2.77 & .906 in 14 games since NYE. Recall that he has a bit of a history of this kinda behaviour.
Marek Zidlicky has assists in back-to-back games but the rumour du jour has him turning into a Devil shortly. I would really like that move for ZIdlicky as he'd immediately be the PP QB in New Jersey with little competition and there is some talent to work with in guys like Kovalchuk, Parise & Elias.
Bobby Butler now has five helpers in his last three games as he's been elevated to the top line with Spezza & Michalek lately.
An assist & plus-2 last night for Luca Sbisa gives him 1+4=5 & plus-6 over his last eight games.
David Perron elongated his point streak to five games (6+2=8) with an assist last night.
Mentioned checking your wire for James Wisniewski the other day... well the Wiz connected on the PP last night and has 2+2=4 & plus-3 in three games since returning from his broken ankle.
Four game goal streak for Ryan Callahan where he has six goals, four on the PP and two GWGs.
1+2=3 for Alex Tanguay last night and he's a very solid 2+7=9 & plus-6 over his last seven games.
Some line juggling saw Tim Connolly promoted to the wing on L2 with Grabovski & MacArthur last night but it didn't help him points-wise as he still has just one point in his last 11 games.
Bad timing for Brendan Morrison to join the Hawks as they're on a horrid run... he has no points in five games so far and has been a healthy scratch in two of the last three.
Johnny Boychuk got a three-year extension from the Bruins... good for him but no impact for you fantasy squad.
Promoted: Drayson Bowman, Nick Palmieri & Paul Byron.
Demoted: Jerome Samson, Eric Wellwood & Braden Holtby.

this is awsome

do you believe it to be a massive coincidence that Calgary moves Brendan Morrison, and hasn’t lost in regulation since.
Had some idea of how this move would work out for the hawks, had no idea it would be such a complete and total disaster. Well done son of Scotty

almost forgot
my man Ryan Ellis (healthy scratch last game @ Boston) with the GWG and an assist to drop the Hawks to their latest defeat
he wants relevance

Agreed… wasn’t expecting too much from Morrison in Chicago but they must have expected something and he hasn’t done anything.
Saw that about Ellis but he’s a little erratic lately, so his mentiond was left on the cutting room floor.

The province of all prognosticators is to promulgate potential performance portending predictors in plenteous portions.

Nice to see Tanguay back
He was dropped by a frustrated owner prior to his return from injury. I was thinking about dropping Booth for him. We only have a finite amount of moves in our league so guys sit a little longer on the FA and long term value is more important than streaks. I like that Booth is playing with Nucks, but he’s has 2nd Line and 2nd PP duties. Tanguay’s playing on the the first line and first PP, and Calgary seems to be playing very strong. However he has Cammalleri to contend with who could come on strong as they serge in the fight for the playoffs. Tanguay has the stat history to back him up, but Booth was playing with Florida and now finally has the chance to shine on a team with lots of Stud talent……..I’m soooo confused….hahaha!
I like stirring up discussion and hearing peoples opinions on players,
so discuss away
I’d take Tanguay’s proven production (although he’s really only good for A & PPP) and L1 role over Booth cause you just don’t know what you’re going to get from him.
