Friday's Daily Dosage - Giroux, Hartnell, Stamkos, E. Kane

Giroux: Let me sign that for you, Stammer. Maybe next year you'll put up 5 points in a single game.

Claude Giroux pulled an Evgeni Malkin last night with a season high 5 points (all assists), 2 PPP, and plus-2. He's now just two points behind Malkin for the scoring lead so maybe Geno won't be running away with that race after all.

Another beneficiary of the 7-2 drubbing that the Flyers put on the Sabres was Scott Hartnell. He gets the fantasy line of the night with 1+3=4, 2 PPP, plus-2, 2 PIM, and 5 shots. He's got points in four straight with 2+6=8.

Wayne Simmonds joined the 20-goal club for the first time in his career after scoring his eighth and ninth PPGs of the season. He's been scoring a lot with 7 goals over his last 8 games.

Wild game in Tampa Bay last night as the Lightning beat the Sharks 6-5 in a game that felt like it had 10 lead changes. Steven Stamkos with 2 goals and 2 assists and the 4 point performance was a season best for him. He's just three points off the scoring lead. With 39 goals he's 7 ahead and it looks like he'll be reclaiming the Rocket Richard trophy after relinquishing it for one season to Corey Perry.

Victor Hedman with 3 assists and 4 PIM last night and he's been quietly productive with 1+6=7, plus-5 and 8 PIM over his last 8 games.

A goal and an assist for Steve Downie last night and he's trying to salvage his season lately with 4+1=5 over his last four games. He's not getting any powerplay points but he's certainly worth a pickup while he's riding high.

Logan Couture may have had his points streak halted at 8 but he's trying to go on a new one. He had 1+1=2 last night for his second consecutive two point game.

Evander Kane with his first multi-point effort since December 27th. He had 2+1=3, plus-2 and 7 shots. Hopefully this is a good sign for the kid as he's hit a rough patch.

Two apples for Dustin Byfuglien and he's got 2+4=6 and 4 PIM over his last four games. With 31 points in 43 games, Big Buff is showing that last season was no fluke.

Devin Setoguchi with 2+1=3 last night and that was his first game with more than two points for the entire season. He's at 4+2=6 over his last four games.

Mikko Koivu with 1+1=2 and he's on a three game point streak with 1+3=4.

Alex Pietrangelo with three primary assists, including two on the PP. He's blazing with a ridiculous 2+5=7 and 5(!) PPP over his last four games.

T.J. Oshie with a trio of points on 1+2=3 including 2 PPA. He's at 1+6=7 over his last six games.

David Perron kept his point streak alive at six with a goal and he has 7+2=9. Let's hope he can put a full season together next year and show us what he really can do.

John Tavares with no points and a minus-1 last night and he's gone cold in February. He has just two assists and a minus-6 over the 8 games this month. He might have been the best player in the league in January but that seems so long ago now.

Jonathan Toews broke a streak of five games with no points as he had a goal and an assist. Losers of 8 straight, the Blackhawks really needed that.

Mike Cammalleri with a goal last night and he now has a modest three game point streak going with 2+1=3 over that span. It's not much but it's something for those who had high hopes after the trade.

Mike Smith with the league's only shutout last night as he turned away all 28 of the Kings' shots. That's six straight wins and back to back shutouts for Smith. Those of you who rightfully unrightfully voted for Mike Smith in Dio's poll take notice.

The Sharks acquired Dominic Moore and a 7th round pick for the Lightning's 2nd round pick. I'm not sure that Moore is worth a 2nd round pick, but what do I know? Either way, this has no real fantasy relevance.

The Flyers acquired their defenseman as they sent a 2nd and a 3rd rounder to the Stars for Nicklas Grossman. This is another trade that has no fantasy relevance.

Up from the AHL: Tomas Tatar and Keith Aucoin
