Varlamov, S. Mason, Dubnyk, Neuvirth
Hi guys !
If you had to choose one goalie for next year, who would you pick and why ?
How do feel about Steve Mason, does he Jim Carrey himself out of the NHL or will he bounce back to reach his potential ?
Do you think Washington will re-signed Vokoun or will they move back to Neuvirth next year ?
Do you think Varlamov could be a top 10 goalie in the next 3 years ?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

Varlamov. Easy call in my opinion.
He has a #1 job and has upside as well.

Varlamov seems like the safest pick, but I think Neuvirth has more upside. It’s been a tough year for him, but really, it’s been a tough year for all the Caps outside of maybe Wideman. If the Caps are smart, they’ll let Neuvy be the starter next year. With consistant starts, I really think he could surprise next season.

I just traded Varlamov for Neuvirth, so I'm in full agreement
I think Neuvirth takes the starter job next year in Washington. As bad as the Caps have been this year, they’re much better than Colorado. I also don’t fully trust Varlamov to stay healthy.

There is only 1 "n" in Hutchison
It seems you all have forgotten someone
I am not much of a Caps fan so don’t really see much, but I doubt that the front office is forgetting Braden Holtby in all this.
I know he came out of nowhere, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t in their minds.
given the ups and downs of Neuvirth, no matter his potential or “upside”, I really hate this term and used as a justification to gamble on someone who can’t possibly be considered as a short term solution, and possibly not even long term.
This mess in Washington is much to much and I would stay away til next season shakes out.
Varlamov, injuries or not, is the #1 now and for the next 3 years, In a keeper league this is your first priority get a goalie with a JOB!
You take your gambles in the later rounds of the draft.
this is my opinion feel free to disagree

Well said. Neuvirth definitely has some upside (sorry MOP) but is that potentially really worth the risk of a guy who’s an actual #1 right now?

Has to be Varlamov, I suspect the other three guys will be backups next year. I can’t see the Caps handing over the #1 job to Neuvirth after the season he’s had this year. Not sure if it will be Vokoun brought back or another veteran to share the load with Neuvirth.
