Friday's Injury Updates - Toews, Anderson, Wisniewski

Apparently Craig Anderson isn't as good with a knife as he is with his stick.

Horrible news here for a hot goalie as Craig Anderson "suffered a serious cut in his hand while preparing food at his home." I'm hearing 6-8 weeks as the initial estimate. That would make him useless for the rest of the season, for all intents and purposes. You don't want Alex Auld and neither do the Senators. This may open up the gate for Robin Lehner, but he's having a tough time in the AHL (8-16-1, .905 sv%, 3.38 gaa) so the thought is that the Sens could be shopping for a goalie. What is Marty Turco doing these days?

Cam Ward is hoping to get a practice in today so there is an off chance he will start tomorrow night. I wouldn't count on it, though.

I like this one. The Blackhawks released this statement: "Jonathan Toews was in a minor one-car collision in downtown Chicago Thursday morning while driving himself to the United Center. He was not injured". I'm assuming a one-car collision means he drove into a pole and if you saw the picture of his car, that does seem to be the case. Gotta cut out that texting and driving, Johnny! This is unrelated to his other undisclosed injury.

Erik Johnson is experiencing back spasms and he's questionable for tonight's game. I'd assume that the Avalanche want to err on the side of safety with this one and give him an extra day.

James Wisniewski's groin feels allllll better and should play tonight. Yay!

Not that it mattered for the Stars since they won, but Jamie Benn couldn't go last night and he won't play tonight either. He's still nursing a knee injury. Keep your fingers crossed for Sunday afternoon.

Adam Larsson (back bruise) should be good to play for the Devils tonight.

Marc-Andre Bergeron is seeking a second opinion for his back injury. If you're still hanging on to him hoping he gets IR status, it may be best to stop wasting the roster spot and just make the drop.

Vincent Lecavalier (UBI) is looking at a mid-March return.

Returning to action last night: Curtis Glencross, Taylor Pyatt
